TheRarFamily Posted July 20, 2017 Report Posted July 20, 2017 My family (2 adults one child) are planning a trip to Las Vegas primarily to visit family who live in North Las Vegas. The closest hotel/motel to them is Santa Fe Station. We stayed there previously at $40/weekday night and found it convenient and acceptable for that price. However, rooms for our weekend trip now run $130+ booking directly or $110 on Expedia/other booking services. We would be willing to stay at Santa Fe Station for $60 or less. Do Priceline or Hotwire have options for this area/casino? Alternately, since we will likely have to spend more than the Santa Fe is worth to us, we are entertaining the option of spending slightly more ($150-200 per night inc. tax/fees) to stay on the strip. Do you think we could find a room for that price with these qualities?: Two beds (or 1+pull out) On Strip With Strip View Pool/Jacuzzi Similar quality or better than: (and in the region of) Treasure Island, Mirage, Flamingo, Luxor or Linq
thereuare Posted July 20, 2017 Report Posted July 20, 2017 Welcome to BetterBidding! The closest i think you can get to your budget for the Sante Fe Station is this HOTWIRE offer which i believe to be this hotel: 3* Sun City - Lone Mountain Hike for $85.00 Free Parking Free Internet Casino Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Childrens Activities As far as increasing your budget to stay on the strip i do think you can get something within your budget, but first need a bit more information/clarity to know exactly what pricing we would be talking about: 1) how old is your child? Are you willing to book for double occupancy (and then only have one person go to the desk at check-in) as many Las Vegas Strip hotels now charge more for rooms rooms with 2 beds or anything over double occupancy 2) you can't guarantee a strip view unless such a room type is offered thru PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE... otherwise rooms are booked 'run of house' and assigned at check-in based upon availability (although sometimes you can 'upgrade' to a strip view just by asking or will be offered for an additional fee) 3) you mention a pool/jacuzzi... if you mean on-site then that should be relatively easy, if you mean in your room then that goes back to my comment immediately above, you won't be able to guarantee that room type prior to check-in (and some hotels don't necessarily have rooms with jacuzzis in them) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts based upon the above and we'll take it from there (please use our link to Sante Fe Station Hotel and Casino (confirm your dates on the landing page) if that is the route you decide to go. TheRarFamily Posted July 27, 2017 Author Report Posted July 27, 2017 Thank you so much for your kind reply. After coordinating with extended family, great news! We will be staying one additional day, bringing an additional family member, and staying on the strip. With all of that in mind, I am starting my research fresh. Here are the parameters: 3 nights Thursday 8/10 late check in (driving from LA in the evening) Sunday 8/11 check out Room 1: 1 adult - any room type/view is fine Room 2: 2 adults and 1 10 year old. We would really like a strip view, and are hoping to book whatever deal we can get through Priceline or Hotwire, then tip for upgrades at the front desk. We have had great success with this approach at Delano, Treasure Island and a few others. We will need two beds or 1 bed and a pull out. We will probably all check in as a group. If there is some kind of extra guest fee, I will pay it. I suppose it is more work to accommodate more than 2 people from a housekeeping and resource use perspective, so I can reconcile that. Both reservations will be on one credit card. While we are there, we plan to visit the strip attractions like the High Roller, M&M World, Tigers at Mirage, Bellagio Fountains, Caesars Palace, Pirate Ship show etc etc etc... Thank you again for your help. My first stop will be looking for current deals via your links. Then I will post in the appropriate forum if I have questions on the hotels offered.

What is your maximum budget (per nite before taxes/fees)? Keep in mind that almost all strip hotels now charge a resort fee in the range of $35-$45/nite. TheRarFamily Posted July 27, 2017 Author Report Posted July 27, 2017 We thought this might be Treasure Island... but it turned out to be Lucky Dragon. We have never stayed there before hope it will be a great stay.
TheRarFamily Posted July 27, 2017 Author Report Posted July 27, 2017 You are right. That should say check out 8/13. We ended up going with a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $71 NW Strip Area 4 star - it was the Lucky Dragon. We have never stayed there... so at least it will be an adventure! I posted my win in the appropriate forum. Thank you for your help. We used your PRICELINE link!
thereuare Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 Congratulations on your success! Sorry this wasn't the hotel you were expecting, but i like the attitude of looking forward to trying something new. Feel free to ask the board for help before your future 'opaque' purchases as we can often confirm (or negate) what it is that you think you're about to purchase. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. In the future please use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page as this will allow you to edit the topic title of your existing thread to reflect your win as well as add a reply with the details of your purchase (you can't see the button now since it can only be used once and then it disappears... and we just used it to edit your topic title) Do you recall the amenities that PRICELINE EXPRESS associated with this property and showed prior to your purchase? Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
