Here is my bidding history:On 2/19 (My first Priceline attempt ever!)Bid $60 for a 4* in Bloomsbury - Marble Arch - RejectedBid $70 for a 4* in Bloomsbury - Marble Arch and added Mayfair - Soho - RejectedBid $78 for a 4* in Bloomsbury - Marble Arch, Mayfair - Soho and added London Bridge (no 4*, essentially a free re-bid) - RejectedWasn't ready to add any more zones yet, so I stopped to wait my 72 hoursOn 2/23 - Bid $70 for a 4* in Bloomsbury - Marble Arch - RejectedClosed browser (discovered this trick from reading other posts, realized how very useful it is in London after my first attempts)Bid $76 for a 4* in Mayfair - SohoGot a message from Priceline stating my bid had very little chance of being accepted in this zone because it was so low, gave me a chance to change my bid.Bid $80 for a 4* in Mayfair - Soho - ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm really excited about this hotel based on it's stellar location and how nice it looks. Thanks BetterBidding!!!!!!!! :)
Technobabe Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 This is the first time I'm posting on this board, so I hope I don't do anything wrong.Congratulations on your bid being accepted. Would you mind explaining what you mean about closing your browser?I'm trying to learn all I can in the next few months before attempting my own first bid.Thank You
lwitchel Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Technobabe - read through this thread for more information - PRICELINE BIDDINGYou close your browser because in certain situations (such as when you're bidding for an entirely new zone) it is to your advantage to do so rather than to continue the previous bid.
Technobabe Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Thanks Iwitchel. thanks for the link, will read. There is such a lot to become familiar with, phweew!
