Ed60062 Posted July 20, 2017 Report Posted July 20, 2017 Interested in a 3* or 4* place, preferably near the strip. We'll have a rental car so we can get around; parking will be needed. Nice to be in an area where we can walk around. Other than being clean with comfortable beds, our needs are minimal. Would like something in the range of $100 per night.
thereuare Posted July 20, 2017 Report Posted July 20, 2017 Have you been to Las Vegas before? If you're not located on (or walkable) to the Strip (or Fremont St Downtown) there really isn't much to walk to... and unfortunately there is not really much within your budget near the strip (or Fremont St Downtown). I think you're going to have to decide where it is that you want to compromise... location, budget, and/or star rating? Which of these is more important to you for this trip? Just to give you some 'food for thought' and what is currently available closest to meeting some of your needs (confirm your dates on the landing pages of any links provided below): 3* North Las Vegas for $76 Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess would be Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel (within budget but not really close tot he strip or walkable in the immediate area... as well as mixed reviews) 3.5* Downtown Las Vegas - Fremont Street Area for $106 Free Parking Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> like The D Las Vegas Hotel Casino which is walk-able to lots of things Downtown, but not really sure if 'downtown' is where you want to stay given your comments above 3* The Strip - Southeast for $122 Free Parking Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess is Hooter's which is walkable to the strip but from what i have heard has some quality issues 3* East of The Strip for $125 Pets Allowed Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Airport Shuttle Free Internet Free Breakfast Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> can walk across the street to the Hard Rock but not the best of areas that you would want to be walking much at nite, plus already getting beyond your budget (no resort fee here that i'm aware of which helps when comparing to other properties that are on-strip) Based upon the above let us know your thoughts on how you'd like to proceed and whether or not this is first time visit to Vegas... we'll take it from there. Ed60062 Posted July 20, 2017 Author Report Posted July 20, 2017 Thanks. We've been to Vegas with the last time being about 15 years ago. This time it's primarily a stopover on the way to Zion and Bryce National Parks. We'll probably spend an afternoon on the Strip but will also drive to the MOB Museum, the Springs Preserve and may drive out to Red Rock Canyon. So perhaps we are better off somewhere in the Summerlin area and driving to the Strip?
thereuare Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 If only going to visit the strip once during the 3 nite stay i would look outside of the strip... save the expensive (and resort fees); but i think you have to think hard about your plans and just how much time you plan on spending on the strip, since if you do plan on visiting the strip each nite, it will be a different experience having to drive home each nite vs. walking back to your hotel room. Not sure how you feel about changing hotels mid-trip, but the nite of 9/17 should be fairly cheap, if you want to stay one place away from the strip for the weekend nites of 9/15-9/17 and then a high-end place on the strip for the nite of 9/17. Ed60062 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 We'll visit the strip likely only one afternoon and not at night at all. I usually go the bidding route with Priceline but this time settled for a set price and hotel and bought the Hampton Inn Redrock/Summerlin. Got a King suite for $115 plus fees. Has excellent reviews, free parking, free breakfast, close enough to everything we want, etc. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Thank you for closing this thread with your decision. Glad to see you found something that works well for your needs. To confirm, this was a 'regular' rate purchase where you knew the name before you bought? (and not a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal?) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Ed60062 Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 Yes, a regular rate purchase knowing the name. I didn't think I would save enough to be worthwhile for a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal or by bidding. I was already up to $85 bidding. I did go through your link but I suspect you only benefit on Express deals (sorry).
thereuare Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Thanks for the clarification. We get credit for any PRICELINE / HOTWIRE sales that go thru our link (thanks for the support)... even MAPS and HOTELS.com for regular rate purchases. Have a great trip.
