Cobber Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Won bid for 4 hotel rooms for $75 USD each for three nights. Started search at $75 USD in Mayfair-Soho and won this bid as soon as I added Kensington-Earls Court-Knightbridge.Hotel was very nice but a little rough around the edges. I needed to take my room keys to the lobby constantly to be re-charged. The front desk personnel were confused easily and the concierge service couldn't recommend more than two nearby restaurants worth visiting.Having lived in the UK and travelled around northern Europe during the past year this is definitely one of the most Americanized hotels I have stayed. The rooms are large and all of ours contained king sized beds. There are hundreds of rooms and the hotel even accomodated us with a connected room and an upgrade to the Millenium level at no additional charge which made travelling with my one year-old son so much easier. I would highly recommend this hotel for group or family travel.Despite being out of the real heart of London the Tube station right outside gets you anywhere you want to go in no time. Hotel is right next door to Herefords, the bar where Jack the Ripper alledgedly stalked his victims.Follow-Up: I am currently bidding on Edinburgh for one night March 25 to March 26. If anyone has any success stories of 4* and 5* hotels in Edinburgh I would love to hear. I have been rejected at $70 USD and $80 USD.
