Please start by following-up your previous New York City Hotwire hotel thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip, then reply here and we will have a look at your post above.  Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans.

Also, let us know your budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this Vegas stay and anything in particular that you're looking for, as many of us are quite familiar with the area and it would be much quicker to offer you the best options available for your parameters than to begin to research all of the hotels above (many of which i can already tell just by looking at them are not going to be the right property for you if you're the typical first time Vegas visitor)

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Yikes.  I didn't realize I didn't close that thread from so long ago.  My apologies as we were actually in a bit of a rush at that time as we had a medical emergency with a friend we had to tend to in NYC.  Although my response may not be what other readers would be looking for, I tried to add my 2 cents in with the hotel we finally did settle on.  (The Kitano).

As this is my first time in Vegas I was hoping to experience a hotel on the Strip.  We are working with a tighter budget (kid on the way and the wife really wanted to go to Vegas for our baby-moon... I know... not exactly what Vegas is known for... but as they say... happy wife... happy life) so I would say our budget is around $90-130 USD/night before fees/taxes.

I wanted something clean and indicative of the lush Vegas experience.  And as my wife IS pregnant, we also don't want to be that far off the strip as that is where we will most likely be spending our time!

Let me know if there's anything else I can provide!

Just out of curiosity, what would qualify the right property for a first time visitor?

Location, location, location... then best bang for the buck and 'vegas experience'.

Hahaha... here I was thinking... those ones I had looked at above were a decent location...

Much to learn here... young grasshopper...

I'm open to suggestions and any help!  Want to make the most of this small trip before parenthood kicks in!

Weekend nites can be 2x-3x the price of Sun-Thur nites... any chance you can arrive on Sunday instead of Saturday? (not sure if you're flying or driving in)

Or would you be open to staying at one location on Saturday nite and then moving to a different hotel for the rest of the trip?  I know not ideal, but it would enable you to get into some ultra-luxurious  place like the Wynn or Encore.

Unfortunately, our timing only enables us to arrive on Saturday.  We had a bunch of credits from Air Canada and there are restrictions on these credits so our times are set in stone.

I think we could be open to switching hotels IF they are not too far from each other, but of course the ideal situation would be to not have to move around too much.  If she weren't pregnant, this definitely wouldn't have been a issue.

What were you thinking?

If splitting your stay is an option, i was thinking for 6/25-6/28 (confirm your dates on the landing page of any links provided below):

5* The Strip - Southwest for $118
Pets Allowed
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> likely the Vdara... good location but no 'Vegas vibe' nor a casino

5* The Strip - Northeast for $130
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> likely the Wynn but a lesser chance of the Encore still possible.  Located at the northern end of the 'main' part of the strip, but for me this is where the hotels i like the most are located (Wynn, Encore, Palazzo, Venetian, Mirage, Caesars is a 'must see' for a fist time visit, etc).  You're further from some places like Paris and the Bellagio fountains, but you can easily / relatively inexpensively take a taxi/uber/lyft anywhere you need to go.  Wynn/Encore are truly 5* hotels with a first class experience.

Using the promotion link in my signature will take an additional 5% off of either of these.

For the nite of 6/24 you could stay at The Trump (which is slightly off strip and a short walk to Wynn/Encore... but with both luggage and a pregnant wife you may want to spring for the $6 taxi for the 5 minute trip) for about $175/nite.

Overall this would put you a little over your target budget, but you would be staying at 5* hotels the entire time and nowhere else but in Vegas (and may some third world countries) could you do that for under $150/nite average.

Your thoughts?
