cln125 Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 I'm looking for 2 hotel rooms for 5 adults and one baby. I know the caveat with priceline is that it's a double max. What is your experinece with booking a room on priceline with 2 doubles to make sure there is enough room for 3 people in one room. Along those lines, I’m not seeing a way to book one room that is a double at the same time as a room with either 1 king or queen which tends to be cheaper. Would you advise against splitting it up and making two books for fear that we won’t get the same hotel? Thanks so much for your help. We are trying to keep it around 900 or less for the 2 rooms for 2 nights (hopefully for at least 4*).

thereuare Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. 26 minutes ago, cln125 said: What is your experinece with booking a room on priceline with 2 doubles to make sure there is enough room for 3 people in one room. It has often been used as a strategy and i don't know of anyone who has yet had an issue, but there is still some degree of risk since some hotels may charge more for 3rd/4th guest in a room, regardless if the number of beds can accommodate that number of guests. (you can minimize this risk somewhat by not having everyone go to the desk at check-in time, but this is more difficult in NYC where there may not be a formal lobby and almost everyone entering/existing the hotel walks past the front desk... so if trying to do this you may need to have one person go to Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, fast food place, etc while the rest go check-in and then just meet up afterwards) 32 minutes ago, cln125 said: Would you advise against splitting it up and making two books for fear that we won’t get the same hotel? If you must be at the same hotel then i would make one reservation. If the 2 bed room is the more expensive, you could try booking the 2 bedded room and then call the hotel to see if you can 'downgrade' one of the rooms (even though it's cheaper they may or may not agree to do it). The problem with splitting the purchases is what if only one room is available at the current price? You move forward assuming that you can purchase one and then the other, but after you make the first purchase, the same hotel may not be offered (or offered at a very different price). If the same hotel is preferred, but not 100% necessary, you can reduce this risk a bit by searching PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE for TWO ROOMS and find any offers of interest. Then repeat your search for one room and confirm if the same hotel appears. If so, you can purchase the first room and then immediately repeat your search and purchase the second room... but no guarantee that the second room will still be there (or that when you try to complete the purchase you receive a message that the offer is no longer available). If you do go this route, buy the 2 bedded room first, since that is usually the more difficult and/or expensive... so at least if you do have to move forward with a different hotel you have more options available. Hope that makes sense, but if not, feel free to ask any questions you may have. Let us know your thoughts as to how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
