I'm going to guess that this is the new W Las Vegas that has opened within the SLS but is being run as a separate property (similar to how the Delano is within Mandalay Bay but run as a separate property).

Not sure if I want that hotel.  What is going on that weekend since the rates are sky high??

Lot's going on:

9/12-9/14 16K person convention (not all will leave the last day, some will stay and unwind a few days after the event)

9/14-9/16 23K person convention

9/15-9/16 45K Mr Olympia

 

All of the above is enough to drive hotel prices, not to mention it's probably one of the first 'safe' post summer weekends when you can be assured it won't be 100+ degrees in Vegas.
