MiraS Posted April 12, 2017 Report Posted April 12, 2017 Hello, This is the first time I'm using your site so I'm not familiar with the bidding system. If we are travelling more than 2 people, I can't use Priceline? only Hotwire? Thanks much! Mira
AaronJB Posted April 12, 2017 Report Posted April 12, 2017 Welcome to Betterbidding. Bidding only guarantees one bed/double occupancy, as does PRICELINE EXPRESS. You can ask for more than one bed, but in NYC where rooms are often small (and occasionally quite small) there is a real risk that the hotel may say no. With HOTWIRE, you can search for the amount of people in the party. PRICELINE EXPRESS also does sometimes offer bed choice, but in NYC 2 beds is not seen that frequently as an option. Let us know more about your stay (amount of people, desired budget per night, star rating and acceptable zones) and we would be happy to make recommendations. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
MiraS Posted April 12, 2017 Author Report Posted April 12, 2017 Thanks I'll more than happy if you can help me as I never used this kind of booking sites. I have two trips: 1) London, 11-13/05, 3 adults sharing 1 room, nice hotel (90% up recommendations), Mayfair or Chelsea area. Would like to pay max of $ 250 per night. 2) NYC, Manhattan, 22-28/06, 1 adult + 2 kids (15,13), nice hotel (90% up recommendations), central area (times sq., Rockefeller). Don't know NY well and as I'm traveling with kids I assume location is important. If you can recommend more areas, please... Would like to pay max of $ 180-200. Thanks much! Mira
thereuare Posted April 12, 2017 Report Posted April 12, 2017 We will use this thread for the NYC trip, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC in the OTHER COUNTRIES >> HOTWIRE section of the board for your London stay. For NYC what is the minimum star rating you're looking for? Is your budget up to $200 based upon the room rate only or is that an all-in (including taxes/fees) figure? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
MiraS Posted April 12, 2017 Author Report Posted April 12, 2017 Thanks, will do so regarding London. NYC - 3 star minimum, $ 200 all in. Thanks much!
thereuare Posted April 12, 2017 Report Posted April 12, 2017 Searching HOTWIRE for 1adult/2children i see the following: 3* HOTWIRE Theater District - Midtown West for $137.00 Complimentary Breakfast Free Internet Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> best guess for this property would be the Holiday Inn Express New York - Manhattan West Side, which despite the name, is a bit far west and about a 10 minute walk to Times Square and there is not that much in the immediate area (although a 3-4 minute walk to Ninth Ave will give you plenty of restaurants and convenience stores to choose from) Your next closest option would be: 3.5* HOTWIRE Times Square South for $173.00 Free Internet Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> my guess here would be the Holiday Inn New York City - Times Square, but this already goes over your all-in budget so you would have to decide if the higher star rating and more centralized location, but no breakfast, is worth the additional expense Do either of the above work for your needs? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
MiraS Posted April 12, 2017 Author Report Posted April 12, 2017 Thanks for your prompt reply :) Do you recommend other areas that I can consider with maybe better hotels?
thereuare Posted April 12, 2017 Report Posted April 12, 2017 You have a few issues working against you: 1) NYC hotels often cost more for anything more than double occupancy. Most hotels have a very high percentage of rooms with only one bed, so hotels will often charge more for triple occupancy rooms 2) although $200 is still a lot of money for a hotel room, it just doesn't go that far in NYC (especially as per my previous triple occupancy point above) as hotel taxes are very high 3) one criteria you listed a 90% or better recommendation by previous HOTWIRE guests... this takes a lot of the hotels out of the running (although the 2 above are still the last expensive in Manhattan even if lowering this criteria to 80%) Neither of the hotels are 'bad' per se (as per their 90%+ recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests) but for the first one you should be aware that it's not that centrally located to Times Square and/or subway (about 10 minute walk to either) and the second is over your budget. thereuare Posted June 13, 2017 Report Posted June 13, 2017 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. For help with the HOTWIRE offer above, please search using our BiddingHelper.com tool and in the EASY VIEW tab click the GREEN 'See All Amenities' button next to this listing... then copy/paste the amenities from there as a reply to this thread. With your arrival less than 10 days away do you have any back-up reservation for this trip? What did you ultimately do for the London leg of your trip (if you booked something thru PRICELINE / HOTWIRE please share your outcome with the board in a NEW TOPIC) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
MiraS Posted June 13, 2017 Author Report Posted June 13, 2017 There is no EASY VIEW tab in the BiddingHelper.com I opened. Only option to enter search hotel. London - My friend didn't want to take the chance not knowing the hotel in advance. Back-up reservation I have but it's pretty pricy hotel and I'm trying to get cheapest one.

CORRECT.... enter your location and dates and you will then see the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW TAB (as well as tabs for the 'regular' HOTWIRE page, PRICELINE bidding, and PRICELINE EXPRESS) 20 minutes ago, MiraS said: Back-up reservation I have but it's pretty pricy hotel and I'm trying to get cheapest one. Where, and how much, is your back-up?
