Bee323 Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 I'd like advise on how to bid on a 4* hotel in MTW. I understand that I can rebid and will likely chose UWS and UES as my re-bids. I have tried unsuccessfully twice, bidding up to $150 so far. I was thinking of starting at $160 and increasing to $180 this time. I need to get a room for under $200. Is this possible?Do you have any suggestions? I can rebid later tonight (after my 72 hrs. are up). This is my first time trying Priceline. It's a bit stressfull, so any help you can give me would be great. I have a feeling April is a busy and expensive time for NY.Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding!First question before suggestioning a strategy... must you only stay in MTW? NYC is compact enough and public transportation inexpensive and easy to come by that usually any midtown (MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS) will suit more visitors well. Expanding your zones to include these other areas gives you more opportunities to bid as well as increases your chances by making more hotels possible... but you know your plans better than i do to know if you can/should bid these other zones.Let us know if these other zones are a possibility or not and we will suggest a strategy to follow. Bee323 Posted February 20, 2006 Author Report Posted February 20, 2006 I will be doing college tours with my daughter, so we need to close to train stations. We also wants to be close to the theater district. Therefore, I guess we do want to be in MTW if possible. By the way, I'm not 100% certain what UM/CPS zones are. Is there a link that describes all of the zones?
thereuare Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 UM/CPS = Upper Midtown/Central Park SouthYou can go to Priceline and see the boundaries of the zones.Additionally i wrote this a while back: PRICELINE NYC ZONE DESCRIPTIONSI don't know which specific schools you'll be visiting, but all the known 4* MTE hotels are close to a subway station... i would think that any of the three zones should be fine, but it's your trip and you'll have to decide for your own needs if they'll all work for you or not.
