Please start by following-up your previous Priceline NYC hotel thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip, then reply here and we will have a look at your post above.  Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans.

Also, a descriptive topic title, such as "3 star or higher Downtown Toronto 3/5" is better than 'Bidding Help Needed" as it let's others that are browsing the topic titles on the board know if this is thread is pertinent to their stay or not (ie- if they are looking for information on Montreal they know it's not relevant to their own research... whereas if they are heading to Toronto it's probably something they want to read... likewise if a there is a Toronto local on the board they would be more inclined to read your thread and comment accordingly )

I don't know what if there is an event taking place in the area for this nite (as Sundays are typically the slowest nite of the week for hotels, pending special events) but rates are somewhat higher than usual, and at current rates i don't think that $70 is going to be enough to be successful in one of the zones you have listed above... at the moment i think you will more likely need to be in the $90-$115 range.

Is this a discretionary trip that you will cancel if you can't get something at $70 or less, or do you need a room regardless?  If $70 is rejected, what is your gameplan...cancel, raise your budget, lower your star rating, or stay in a less convenient location?

If you would still like to try bidding please confirm which zones, by PRICELINE name, you are willing to accept (ie- there are multiple 'Downtown' zones) and let us know if you have revised your maximum bid price in light of our comments above... we will then advise accordingly.

On a side nite, if your budget is flexible, i am seeing this offer (confirm your dates on the landing page of the provided link):

4* Downtown Toronto North - Yorkville for $122
Pets Allowed
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> for which my guess would be the Intercontinental Toronto Yorkville, and gets excellent reviews (so maybe the higher rated star rating and the 'known' positive reviews makes this worthwhile stretching your budget?)

That was a great call on the possibility of an event - just looked it up and Ariana Grande is playing at the Air Canada Centre. Explains why I was having such difficulty finding a place anywhere - and also unfortunate. Will try one of the room rental sites, or leave it closer to the day. Thank you for your help.

Given that it's only a few days before the 5th, prices at this point likely aren't going to get any better as hotels likely have a very good idea as to what demand is going to be look like at this point. If the potential Intercontinental is not of interest, would any other outlying areas be acceptable?

The Ariana Grande concert may be a small contributing factor, but is not likely the main culprit for higher rates... it's looks like there is a decent sized convention taking palce at the convention center from 3/5-3/8 and i'm guessing that is the more likely reason for the higher than usual rates you're seeing.
