Hi, new to the board but have been a fan for a while. Great work!

Considering a bid for a 5* with casino on the strip.

Ideally, central zones but ok with north or south zones.

Traveling from 2/2/17 to 2/5/17

Budget is around $150 and would want to stay under $200

Key amenities would be casino, free parking

Thanks!

Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding... and thanks for the compliments on the site:

Free parking is disappearing from the strip... Venetian/Palazzo website still list free self parking as an amenity, not sure about Wynn/Encore (mid-Nov they started to charge for valet, and self-parking was to remain free at this time).  All other properties that i'm aware of (all Caesar and MGM owned, and recently added to the list the Cosmopolitan), now charge for parking.

You may be able to bid in PRICELINE and avoid parking fees if sticking with the LV Strip - NE (if i'm correct on the parking info above and no unexpected surprises at the 5* level in this zone)... any other 5* Strip zone i think will expose you to likely parking fees.

PRICELINE EXPRESS has this offer (confirm your dates on the landing page):

5* LV Strip - NE for $166
Free Parking
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> my guess here would be Encore At Wynn Las Vegas (which as per the amenity set above does indicate Free Parking)

If you want to try bidding on PRICELINE, let us know if you want to stick with only the LV Strip-NE zone in hopes of landing something with free parking, if other zones are acceptable, or if you just want to take the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above believed to be The Encore?

Thanks for the reply and update on the parking situation. Yes, I'd like to try bidding on priceline and other zones would be acceptable. North, Central and South zones seem like the right areas. Are there strategies that would yield a 5* with casino that's close to the action?

Sounds like the bidding approach would likely result in a hotel that doesn't offer free parking, which means I would pay an extra ~$10/day. Do you think bidding would get me a hotel comparable to (or better than) The Encore at say a <$155/nt bid? Trying to figure out the cost benefit of bidding vs taking the express offer.

Thanks!

Go to the PRICELINE bidding page (or the tab that opens by default using the BiddingHelper.com):

1) click the first zone

--> is 5* offering and a Casino a guaranteed amenity?

2) uncheck the previous zone and click the next zone (so ONLY the 2nd zone is selected)

--> is 5* offering and a Casino a guaranteed amenity?

3) repeat for all of your acceptable zones

Please double check but i believe these are the only (strip) zones with a guaranteed casino:

LV Strip - Central West

LV Strip - NE

So these are really the only two zones you could bid, and it then depends how much you like the (guessed) Encore vs. landing something else in the zone and/or landing something in the LV Strip - Central West zone.

Personally i like the area around the Palazzo/Venetian/Wynn/Encore best, so for me (and in hopes of landing free parking), i would likely only bid the LV Strip - NE zone up to about $150-$155/nite.  If you happen to like the area around the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, etc. just as much then you could include both zones, but maybe stop at $150 or less, since if you landed something in the Central zone with parking that would likely take you up to the $165 price of the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above that has free parking.

Just checked. You are correct on those zones. Also saw that North West is the only zone with 5* guaranteed free parking (but not casino). Just curious if you know which 5* hotels are typically won in NW?

Thanks for the info on those two zones - CW and NE. Will likely follow your suggested approach of going NE first. What's your recommended initial bid for both NE and CW?

You can see the hotels that have been reported to the board here: Priceline Hotel List. That list provides the hotels that have been reported to the board - new hotels or rating changes can happen at any time. When bidding, you have to be willing to accept any hotel at the star rating picked in the zones chosen. With PRICELINE EXPRESS, you can often guess which hotels are showing based on the information given and PRICELINE EXPRESS is generally slightly-to-moderately more expensive than bidding. You can also look for hotels that list free parking and casino as amenities.

The only 5* in the LV Strip-NW zone (based upon the current zone boundaries) that i'm aware of is the Trump.

Yes, any suggestions on bidding strategy on priceline would be great!

Also, the free parking amenity is no longer necessary but casino is. Checking express deals again and saw an offer of $145/nt SW area 5* with casino and the amenities below. Any guess on hotel (couldn't ID based on the link from AaronJB above)? Good deal?

 Business Center

 Free Internet

 Indoor or Outdoor Pool

 Casino

 Fitness Center

 No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

The Aria would be my best guess for the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above.

Did you want to take this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer or bid?  If trying to NYOP on PRICELINE, please confirm which zones (by PRICELINE name) you're willing to accept, as well as your maximum bid, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Think I'll give NYOP a shot. Only have one chance considering the timing; although my friend can try too. Think I would be fine with any of the North and Central zones and South ok too. But based on you earlier post, it sounds like CW and NE are the specific zones with the best shot at hotel+casino? If so, I would stick with those. Thanks!

Using the strategy below there should be no reason to need to have your friend bid, but if that is what you do end up doing, please ask him/her to stop by the board and click the PRICELINE link on the top left corner of the board inside the QUICK SEARCH box in order to begin their bidding.

When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have FOURTEEN re-bid zones.  If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 5* LV Strip Central West and LV Strip NE
Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...
Bid $145

I stopped at $145 figuring that if that failed you would then want to take the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above ($145/nite in the LV Strip - SW zone) believed to be the Aria?

Any questions feel free to ask (especially confirming your re-bid zones if you're unsure or new to the subject)

Gotcha. Nice. So I got to $145 and didn't get a hit. Went back to check on the priceline express offers and they changed. Currently offering:

 Restaurant

 Indoor or Outdoor Pool

 Casino

 Fitness Center

I believe this one is still available if you try THIS LINK and on the left side filter for only 5* hotels and only hotels in the LV Strip - SW zone... do you see the $145/nite offer with the same amenities as above?  If so, i keep my guess of the Aria.

For this one (confirm your dates on the landing page):

5* LV Strip - NE for $145
Restaurant
Airport Shuttle
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess is the Palazzo

For this one:

5* Casino Hotel - CW area for $227 (add'l mandatory fee of $39.38/rm/nt)  with

 Restaurant

 Indoor or Outdoor Pool

 Casino

 Fitness Center

 No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

==> if you're still not willing to pay $227/nite (or if you are, why not first try bidding higher on PRICELINE) then to what would be the purpose of taking the time to research this one?

I'm partial to the Palazzo so that would be my choice, but you can't go too wrong with any of the 'true' 5* hotels in Vegas.

So that $145/nt kept eluding me. Every time I checked, it would show $165/nt. I ultimately went to the Palazzo website and found that they were offering a deal for new members - book 3 nights and 1 is free. For 2/2-2/5 (3 nights), it came out to be $145/nt - not so coincidental I feel. Since this is a $145/nt lock for a room at Palazzo, I went for it. The resort fee of $39/nt is rough but it's a very nice hotel - so far so good.

Wanted to thank you guys very much for the help! I will certainly be linking through for all future activity on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE and will likely be back for for more guidance - thanks again and keep up the great work!
