Capo
Hello BB Experts, So I'm looking for a hotel near or in the vicinity of Aria for the dates March 2nd - March 6th 2017 (4 nights), I guess that's South West of the strip ? I was wondering what my options are like with a budget of $60-70 per night and what hotels I should target on Priceline / Hotwire ? Using the trolley/tram to get around the strip is an option, so being at a reasonable distance from Aria is fine too. Thanks in advance for the help. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! What is the purpose of this trip (tourist, casino hopping, gambling, etc) and/or what is the reason for wanting to be near the Aria? Have you been to Las Vegas before? I ask as there are a few monorail systems (Mandalay Bay <--> Excalibur, Bellagio <--> Monte Carlo, and then the longer one from MGM <--> Convention Center area) so i'm not sure which one(s) it is that you're referring too, but these are usually not the best ways to get around. The first two i mentioned are limited in the distance they cover and the larger one is not that convenient from an accessibility point of view... the monorail stops are in the back of the hotel and is usually a bit of a hike to get to the 'main' part of the property; it may be good to go from say MGM Grand to the Convention Center, but not really a mode of transportation in order to 'casino hop', imo. Also, if this is the one you were intending to use, you would be far better staying on that side of the strip (which is the opposite site of the Aria). Please let us know more about your plans/needs for this trip, and why the focus around the Aria, and we will try to assist in finding you the best hotel that meets your criteria and in the $60-$70 price range. Capo
Thanks for the response, the purpose of the visit is just a short holiday with friends which would include casino hopping, nightlife (bars/clubs) and dining. My friends will be staying at the Aria, therefore I'd like to be somewhat close to it. I think the Trolley system I was referring to is called the Las Vegas Strip Trolley, that has 3 routes that cover the strip until midnight. I've never been to Vegas, so I'm not really familiar with the area otherwise. Any advice or tips would be really helpful. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
I don't think the trolley is in service anymore (couldn't compete with The Deuce which is the bus that travels up/down the strip). Regardless, it sounds as if your main objective is to stay close to your friends as you will likely meet them at the beginning of the day, hang out with them, then go back on your own to the hotel at nite... if there is a 'hotel break' before dinner or before heading to a club at nite they will be returning to their hotel, so you want to be close enough to potentially return to your own hotel as well. The issue really comes down to your budget, which just isn't going to go very far for these dates, which includes weekend nites (which are often 2x-3x more expensive than mid-week nites in Las Vegas). The best option i see for your dates would be (confirm your dates on the landing page): 3* LV Strip - SW for $65 Business Center Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess would be the Excalibur. This isn't the ideal hotel/location for your needs, but it's the best within your budget, as anything else would be on the northern end of the strip near Circus Circus, Stratosphere, etc. Thoughts on this offer? Capo
I'm guessing this is excluding resort fees ? Either ways I would need to give it some thought, as the reviews of Excalibur seem to be varying, but then again as you rightly pointed out that it comes down to budget. In that case, I was wondering what my options would be if I set my budget at $70-85 instead. Do you think this would give me a couple of more options ? Considering everything, being at a reasonable distance from Aria is fine by me, as we'll be spending some of our time in between Caesar's Palace and MGM which are both at a fair distance from Aria. As per the amenities, what you had listed down for Excalibur works for me. Really appreciate the help and insight on this, thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
If you're willing to increase your budget a bit (confirm the dates on the landing pages of any links provided below): 4* LV Strip - SE for $81 Free Parking Business Center Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Tropicana 3.5* LV Strip - NE for $83 Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Flamingo 4* LV Strip - NW for $88 Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Treasure Island 3.5* LV Strip - Central East for $93 Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Ballys (of all of the offers this will get you closest to the Aria) on HOTWIRE: 3.5* Center Strip - Fountains for $82.00 Free Parking Pet Friendly Casino Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ==> Harrahs I think that covers your sub-$100 options. Capo
Thanks for the list, I've been so tied up with work that I have been unable to make a reservation as yet, although I will be making a booking over this weekend before work takes over again. As per your list, for now I'm leaning towards Treasure Island even though it's at a fair distance from Aria, but in terms of activities it is probably more suited. Do you by any chance know if they have a loyalty program such as mlife / total rewards ? I was looking through hotwire and was wondering if you could help me identify some of these hotels if possible: $63 (Was $119) - 4* Boutique Hotel in North Strip - Fashion Show Mall Area Free Parking Free Internet Resort, Boutique Hotel, Casino Smoke Free rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Bed Choice Available $84 (Was $139) - 4* Casino Hotel in South Strip - T-Mobile Arena Area Free Parking Free Internet Resort, Casino Business Center, Pool(s) Restaurant(s) $90 (Was $128) - 4* Casino Hotel in North Strip - Fashion Show Mall Area Free Parking Free Internet Resort, Casino Smoke Free rooms, Fitness Center, Business Center, Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Bed Choice Available $82 (Was $109) - 3.5* Casino Hotel in South Strip - T-Mobile Arena Area Free Internet Resort, Casino Smoke Free rooms, Fitness Center, Business Center, Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Bed Choice Available Appreciate the help on this. thereuare
I suspect that most (if not all) of the HOTWIRE hotels above have more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (which you should be using for all of your searches/purchases) If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? However, i will add that when i put the options above together i looked extensively thru both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE and those were the best options that were available; i agree that Treasure Island was the best of the lot (although not sure if that is what you wanted relative to the location of the Aria) and didn't bother typing out all of the ones that i knew would not meet your needs (Luxor, SLS, Lucky Dragon, etc) which i suspect the bulk of what you have listed above are likely to be and/or not meet your needs. thereuare
See my comments below: $85 - 4* East of the Strip ==> not in any of your previously acceptable zones, but if you insist, my guess here is the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino $87 - 4* LV Strip - NE Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) ==> will be further north than Treasure Island, not what you're looking for $76 - 4* LV Strip - SE ==> no guess $63 - 4* LV Strip - NW Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) ==> will be further north than Treasure Island, not what you're looking for $68 - 4* North Strip - Fashion Show Mall ==> will be further north than Treasure Island, not what you're looking for $77 - 4* South Strip - T-Mobile Arena ==> Tropicana $81 - 4* Center Strip Fountains ==> The Linq Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Capo
Appreciate it ThereUAre, was wondering if you see any options for Treasure Island / MGM / Monte Carlo / New York NewYork / Mandalay Bay at this time ? If not, then could you please tell me what zones to include while bidding trying to score any of these listed properties. Thanks! Link to comment
Capo
I went with a different option, as I ended up bundling the flight ticket with the hotel stay, which in my case worked out decently after including taxes and fees. I guess Hotwire bundles it in a way on some hotels where you can get a discounted/free night which reduces the price a bit. Moreover, as I'm not a pro at identifying zones to manipulate them for NYOP, although this would've saved me perhaps a couple of bucks, I didn't want to risk staying at a non Mlife property on this trip. Appreciate all the help on this, thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Thank you for closing this thread with your decision... what hotel did you ultimately choose (to bundle with your airfare)? In the future if you want a specific property (or brand) let us know as we could then better tailor our suggestions to your needs (as well as be able to quickly eliminate some of the hotels asked about without needing to research them any further) Have a good trip. Capo
I ended up going w/ New York-New York. With the BiddingHelper.com, for that zone, it looked like it was pointing potentially at Monte Carlo. Which I didn't want to risk due to the on-going constructions. Would've preferred MGM/The Mirage by stretching my budget a bit but wasn't sure how to go about it. Link to comment
