Priceline Hotel: 4.5* Las Vegas (Strip North) Lucky Dragon

Apparently this is a brand new property that just opened in November. I thought I was pretty safe bidding on a 4.5* and being in a central location. I'm very happy with the price, not so much on the location. Had I known Lucky Dragon was considered a 4.5 star I wouldn't have included the North part of the strip.

I'm also a little skeptical on the rating. The hotel looks nice, but not 4.5* nice. Moreover, Expedia, hotels.com, etc. have it listed as a 3.5 star. I'm wondering if this is an error by Priceline because the hotel is so new? I spoke with a customer service rep who told me Priceline is MORE strict with their ratings than Expedia, which doesn't really make sense that their rating would be higher than the others.

Finally small note...my actual bid was $60 and accepted. I later noticed the hotel was being advertised on Priceline Express for $48! They price matched the lower offer.

Any advice for the hotel star rating situation?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Sorry to hear you're disappointed in the outcome for this one.  For the future, do note that the star rating you choose is the minimum you're willing to accept, and PRICELINE can always upgrade you to a higher rated hotel.  So in this situation, your 4.5* bid could have also been upgraded to the 5* Trump (which some hope to avoid based upon it being located slightly off-strip and not having a casino)

As far as the star rating goes, i would:

1) send an email expressing your disappointment as the hotel is 3.5* rated by other online booking agencies (and list those who rate this as a 3.5* property)

2) as your trip is still 10+ weeks away, keep an eye on this property's star rating thru PRICELINE.  If you see it drop to 4* or less, at that point it will be much easier to get a refund (if the email above doesn't get you anywhere)

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List.

Keep us updated as to whether you're able to make any progress with PRICELINE regarding the star rating (and post a new topic seeking help if you are successful in getting them to cancel the purchase)
