jmelts Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Looking at HOTWIRE and wanting to get a hotel in Hyde Park. I found one for my dates that I THINK is the Hyatt Place with the following amenities Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center My dates are 1/26-1/29 and this is a 3 star for $71 a night. (Hyatt website has $143 with AAA discount.) I see no Hyde Park listings and am concerned mostly because the HW listing says free parking while the Hyatt says parking for a fee. Can't think what else this would be though. Any advice? Will of course buy through the link.
thereuare Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (always use this method for your searches/purchases) If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 3 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates: 3* South Chicago - Hyde Park for $71.00 Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Free Internet Pet Friendly Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> if this is what you're seeing, best guess for this one would be the La Quinta Inn and Suites Chicago - Lake Shore (which does indeed offer Free Parking) If you are interested in this property i believe this is also the La Quinta and would run you a little less (confirm your dates on the landing page of the provided link): 3* Lakeshore South - Hyde Park for $65 Pets Allowed Free Parking Business Center Free Internet Free Breakfast Indoor or Outdoor Pool Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes or how we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jmelts Posted January 6, 2017 Author Report Posted January 6, 2017 Are you saying that you think that these are both the same La Quinta? One is rated at %95 and the second at %25. When I follow your instructions I get these as the full amenities for the first hotel (the $71 deal) Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access and these for the lesser price ($62) Free parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access, Golf nearby, bed choice So the wording on both is slightly different that what you posted above. I am not going to have a car and so being close to the university in the Jan. weather is important and the La Quinta is a hefty walk. Thanks for your advice!
AaronJB Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 On HOTWIRE, I'm seeing: 3* Hyde Park $71 Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Free Parking, Pet Friendly >>>This is likely the La Quinta. The second listing (that thereuare linked to above) is a PRICELINE EXPRESS offer... not the 25% recommended HOTWIRE hotel (click the link above in his post in his post and you'll see it's a PRICELINE EXPRESS offer... but always make sure the correct dates of travel are showing when clicking any links on the board): Although I'm now seeing the PRICELINE EXPRESS listing for $72. 3* Lakeshore South - Hyde Park for $72 Pets Allowed Free Parking Business Center Free Internet Free Breakfast Indoor or Outdoor Pool >>>Likely the La Quinta. Personally, I'd rather stay downtown at a nicer hotel for a similar amount or slightly/somewhat cheaper and take the Metra (https://maps.uchicago.edu/directions/masstransit.shtml) down to Hyde Park. There will be more going on downtown at night and you'll get more hotel for your money. I'm quite familiar with the area and would be happy to make recommendations for downtown hotels and answer any Chicago area questions. jmelts Posted January 6, 2017 Author Report Posted January 6, 2017 Thanks-- this is very helpful. All things being equal I would rather stay in a great place downtown as well-- but we are visiting people in Hyde Park (where we lived for 6 years-- so I am not stranger to the area) and we need to spend more time with them and less commuting! The la Quinta doesn't thrill me, but may have to do it.
AaronJB Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Unfortunately, not seeing the new Hyatt Place in that area showing for these dates. Definitely let us know if we can be of any further help and thank you for keeping us updated with what you decide for this stay. jmelts Posted January 23, 2017 Author Report Posted January 23, 2017 Hello- I am looking for a hotel in Chicago for 1/26-1/29. The prices seem pretty good and so I am looking at the 4* and 4.5* hotels in River North and Magnificent Mile. Here are a few I have identified and would love some help confirming my hunches. River North 4* @ $55/night with these amenities: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower. I am guessing this is the Dana Hotel and Spa. Also RN but 4.5*, $76/night with these: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Internet access, Spa services. I am thinking the Godfrey? Then in Mag Mile 4.5 for $70/night is FULL AMENITIES: Smoke-free rooms, Restaurant(s), Internet access so not much help there. I have narrowed it down to Gwen, Omni, Intercontinental, Thompson or Sofitel. My husband would love to stay in the Intercontinental, but with a better guess I don't know whether to risk it! Finally there is another MM 4.5@ $79/night The amenities are: FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Children's activities I have it narrowed to W Chicago Lakeshore or Sofitel. Thanks for any help you can give, or if you think you see Intercontinental on Priceline express-- I didn't think so!
thereuare Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. Best guess/comments for each of the above: 4* River North for $55.00 Free Internet Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ==> Hotel Felix Chicago 4.5* River North for $76.00 Free Internet Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Spa ==> The Godfrey Hotel 4.5* Magnificent Mile - Water Tower for $70.00 Smoke Free Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet ==> Ivy Boutique Hotel 4.5* Magnificent Mile - Water Tower for $79.00 Pet Friendly Boutique Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Childrens Activities ==> W Chicago Lakeshore Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. AaronJB Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 The potential Ivy for $70 would be a great option, as that is a quite small/more "personalized" boutique property, with only a few rooms per floor. A short block or two from Michigan Ave. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
jmelts Posted January 24, 2017 Author Report Posted January 24, 2017 Thanks for your help. The Ivy looked great but had no fitness/gym so we went with what turned out to be the Godfrey (used the link, of course!) 4.5 stars, $75/night. Looking forward to it. Free Internet Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Spa
AaronJB Posted January 24, 2017 Report Posted January 24, 2017 Congrats on your success. Good choice - I've stayed at this property before and liked it quite a bit. There's a Whole Foods a couple of blocks away and tons of restaurants are right nearby in River North. Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
