Older hotel, the lobby and common areas were really nice. The rooms were a little worn out, showed more of the hotel's age.

I have been searching for dates of July 24-25th but see no indication of the Drake.  Does Priceline and Hotwire at times take the hotels off or do they stop offering as mystery hotels?

PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE generally offer 1-3 hotels per star rating per zone for each set of dates, so only a limited amount of hotels are offered and inventory of listings can be limited as well. Hotels may also offer discounted inventory only rarely; some hotels are commonly reported as wins and some may be seen commonly for a bit and then not for a while. 

 

You mentioned in the Congress Hotel review thread that you are staying there. I wouldn't recommend it; it's a very historic property but it's not been well maintained over the years and continues to get a lot of negative reviews -  I'd recommend reading the Yelp reviews. If you are looking for an additional night in Chicago, please start a new thread and I would be happy to offer recommendations.

 

I'm not seeing the Drake, but in terms of historic properties I'm seeing on HOTWIRE:
