I'm trying for a San Juan hotel mid-week (just one Weds night, 3/1). Since so many people got the Caribe Hilton for $65 (and some were on weekends) I figured I'd try that as well. However, it was rejected. Any suggestions for me?

Thanks for a such a great resource!

Well, the cheaper the better...but I'm willing to go higher. Right now I have a room at the Comfort Inn booked for $89 just in case, but I would like something a little nicer if I can get it.

FYI I also tried 3star & boutique for $65 and that was rejected as well.

I thought it might be useful to share my recent experience regarding the Caribe Hilton.

2 weeks ago, I tried unsuccessfully to bid for a Resort in the San Juan / Dorado areas up to $100. This was also for a one night mid-week stay (February 13). I found a cancelable back-up option for that day, and tried a new bid just the day before. My first attempt was accepted for $76 at the Caribe Hilton. :)

It will be very tentative from this single experience to draw the conclusion that Hilton always releases last minute rooms, but if you have a back-up plan, you could try a new bid just before your stay.

For information, my check-in form indicated a base rate of $68 (+ tax + resort fee, which are both included in Priceline's taxes), so you may consider this rate as the minimum bid for this relatively high season.
