Priceline Hotel: Dallas- Need Help

I've never really used PRICELINE to place a bid so could use some help.  I am looking for a 4 star in the Southern Methodist University Zone in the price range of ($50-80) for Nov 4-6.

Searching for your dates i see 4* hotels that start at over $300+ per nite... so a winning bid in the $50-$80 area does not seem realistic.

 

If you're trying to stay within budget i see the following 2.5* offer in this zone:

2.5* Southern Methodist University - Park Cities (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $75
Pets Allowed
Free Parking
Free Internet
Free Breakfast
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

==> best guess for this one would be the La Quinta Inn Dallas Uptown

 

If you are more so looking for a 4* hotel and are flexible in the location, i see the following which are in the same general area as the Southern Methodist University - Park Cities zone (again, confirm your dates on the links of any landing pages below):

4* Galleria - Dallas North for $81
Business Center
Restaurant
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

==> not certain, but best guess for this one would be the Crowne Plaza Dallas, Near The Galleria

 

4* Downtown Dallas for $83
Pets Allowed

Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

==> Sheraton Dallas would be my best guess for this one

 

4* Market Center - Love Field (DAL) for $85

==> Renaissance Dallas Hotel would be my best guess here

 

Are any of the 4* hotels in nearby zones of interest OR the 2.5* in the Southern Methodist University zone?

The reason I was bidding that low for the 4* was just looking at previous winning bids for a similar hotel in that zone.  That's fine I'll have to pass on that. 

 

Im curious to know what is the bidding strategy when bidding for a 2.5* hotel but all the other zones are 2.5* and above.  Are you limited then?

If there are few (or no) re-bid zones then it limits the amount of bidding you can do.

 

This was an optional stay and you won't be the trip based upon the higher than expected prices?  The other nearby zone(s) don't work for your plans?
