hi,

i've been lurking these boards for the past week in preparation for a Las Vegas trip and finally registered to ask advice. honestly i didnt even know where to post...Hotwire or Priceline since ive never used either. i dont know which is better for deals? i'll use whichever has the better deal obviously. anyway, was hoping to find a decent deal on a 4* hotel in the North/South Strip area (south preferred) for 10-21 to 10-25. i dont know what's going on in LV that weekend but it seems that is the most expensive weekend of the month from looking at normal booking prices. looking at the hotel lists for both, i could probably deal w a 3.5* one if it was the Luxor. i've seen some suspiciously cheap 4* north strip deals but one of the amenities is "boutique hotel" and from some digging, it looks to be the SLS Las Vegas (old Sahara) and i really dont want to be that far from the rest of the strip. thanks!!

Welcome to Betterbidding.

PRICELINE bidding is generally the cheapest option, but also requires more flexibility - if you bid for a 4* in South Strip (for example), you have to be willing to stay at ANY of the 4* properties in the zone (and there is the possibility that you may be upgraded to a higher star rating, although that's fairly infrequent.) HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS are generally slightly-to-moderately more expensive, but give you information that can lead towards making an educated guess as to which hotels are showing. So it's not necessarily always about what is the cheapest option, as sometimes you may want to spend a little more on PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE to have a better chance of getting something you're happy with/has the amenities that you are looking for. If you're more flexible in a situation, you can consider the bidding route.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?

i'd like to stay around $100 before taxes/resort fees but realistically may have to bite the bullet and up my budget to about $130-140 before taxes/fees.

EDIT: i just checked a Priceline Express deal for a 4* north strip for $127 a night. when i checked the amenities and resort fee, it points to a 5* hotel. do these express deals also allow for a higher rated hotel to be sold to you? see below:

$143.36 resort fee. divide by 4 nights = $35.84 which is what the Palazzo and Venetian charges based on your hotel list.

 Free Parking
 Business Center
 Restaurant
 Free Internet
 Indoor or Outdoor Pool
 Casino
 Fitness Center
 No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

Congrats on your success.

Great win for this property and glad you are satisfied with the deal.

With PRICELINE EXPRESS, you get a hotel with the star rating listed. With PRICELINE bidding, occasionally when you bid you are upgraded to a higher star rating. At a bit over $200 on Expedia for these dates, this is certainly a very nice win for this Vegas property.

Thank you for using the PRICELINE links on the board and sharing your win, as well as helping us add the new amenity set for this property to the site's Priceline Hotel List.

Enjoy your stay.
