Planterspunch Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Hi, New here... We are going to be in SF October 10-12 - 2 adults/2 young kids - and are looking at hotel options in the city. Fairly flexible on neighborhood - main thing is getting good value. Prefer 4.5*. Will have car to park. Looking for any advice/strategies on Priceline. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Welcome to Betterbidding. With 2 adults and 2 children, I'd suggest looking at PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE, as with bidding you're risking getting one bed. With HOTWIRE, if you search for 2a/2c, you should get bedding for the entire party (may be 2 beds, 1 + rollaway or 1 + sofabed.) Some HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS listings offer bed choice options where you can choose specific options. What would be your desired max budget per night for hotel? Parking will be extra and - unfortunately - expensive in a city like San Fran. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
Planterspunch Posted September 7, 2016 Author Report Posted September 7, 2016 About to book something... Thanks for the tips. Using Hotwire, the best 4.5 Star options with two queen beds seem to be: - 4.5 Star Moscone Area - pool - $227/night. This has to be the Intercontinetal. Looks nice and new, the pool is a good bonus for he kids. - 4.5 Star Fishermans Wharf - $269/night. This has to be the Argonaut, the only 4.5 Star Hotwire has in that district. Great location, can hope on ferry to Alcatraz, cable car, walk along water. Sort of torn. Any thoughts, insight appreciated. Thanks.

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. thereuare Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 Are you including 2adults/2children in your search, as i'm seeing different prices and/or offers when including 2children in the search. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Planterspunch Posted September 7, 2016 Author Report Posted September 7, 2016 Yes I am including 2/2 kids but I'm doing October 9-12 (not 8-12) - we're spending one night with family in The Mission.
Planterspunch Posted September 7, 2016 Author Report Posted September 7, 2016 Just ran it again, now getting $226 and $267.
thereuare Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 For the 4.5 SOMA $226/nite property i would agree that the Intercontinental San Francisco looks like a likely outcome and that would be my best guess as well. For the 4.5* Fishermans Wharf hotel at $267/nite the Argonaut would be my guess. Both get great reviews so i think it comes down to the price difference between the two and which would be more convenient for what you have planned for this trip. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Good luck, and let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help. Planterspunch Posted September 8, 2016 Author Report Posted September 8, 2016 Just went ahead and booked the "Fishermans Wharf" at $267/night - and it is indeed The Argonaut. I used the HOTWIRE link from here. Thanks for the help!
AaronJB Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Congrats on your success. Quite a good deal for this boutique property during a busy period in San Fran. Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
