I'm looking for a hotel in Manhattan - any of the zones in Manhattan are fine -  Brooklyn and Queensborough Bridge zones are a second choice, 3* is fine, for October 12 - 17.  Will I get a better price if I wait until colser to the dates of stay?   Thanks.

As per our previous reply to your same question (and we are still waiting for you to add the star rating, dates, zone, etc. as requested in our reply to that thread):

There is no set time for how far in advance (or close) to check-in you should bid... sometimes earlier is better, at other times later is better.

As current rates this 3* Lower East Side - Chinatown hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $175/nite would appear to be the least expensive hotel that meets your parameters, and shows:

Business Center

Free Internet

Free Breakfast

Fitness Center

No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

... best guess for this one would be the BEST WESTERN Bowery Hanbee Hotel and gets good reviews

Does this work for your needs and within line with what you were expecting to pay? (if not, what were your expectations in regards to cost?)

Assuming this is within your budget, do you want to take this offer OR do you prefer to try bidding, where you may get a slightly lower price, but you could also receive a hotel that is not as well reviewed.

I'm sorry, I couldn't find the thread, so I asked again.

Also, just as bad, I know I said Manhattan, but I've since found some pretty nice hotels in Newark (for example, the Courtyard right on the PATH).

Sooo0, god knows!

hanks for responding to me, though.  Chinatown is def an option !

You should still continue/follow-up your Las Vegas hotel thread if you are still interested in that trip... or reply that you're no longer traveling there in order to 'close' the thread.

I'm very familiar with this area and i would not recommend staying in Newark, how much is the Courtyard that makes you interested staying there?

In terms of staying outside the city, you have to factor in time value of getting to/from the city, transit cost and the idea of being able to exit the hotel and be right in the city every morning vs being outside the city. In NYC, personally, I'd really recommend staying within the city if possible. This is generally a busy period of the year in NYC, so I'd be persistent in trying to lock something in for this period.
