Myifefitz Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 I been looking to book a room in either midtown , empire building area , Times Square on December 7-12 preferably 4.5 stars and I have a budget of $300 per night. Can't seem to find anything . Shall I try later on to search or keep on looking?
AaronJB Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 Welcome to Betterbidding. 12/1-15 is generally one of the busiest periods of the year as it is prime time for holiday shopping/festivities. When you mention that you've searched, have you looked on HOTWIRE/PRICELINE EXPRESS, or tried to bid? If you don't mind staying in Chelsea, there's a 4.5* on HOTWIRE w/Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Pet Friendly for $278. ===>>> This would likely be the well-reviewed Innside New York Nomad. I'm also seeing a 4.5* on Priceline Express in the Midtown West-Hell's Kitchen area for $293 (pets allowed, restaurant, please confirm that the correct date/s are showing on the landing page after clicking the link) ===>>> This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported, but my guess would be the Ink48, a Kimpton property. If this is Ink48, that property does get very good reviews, although is a bit out of the way and would be a mild taxi trip from Times Square. Would either of these potential possibilities be of interest? We can also suggest options if you want to bid, although I think a 4.5* win in your desired zones will probably wind up taking fairly close to $300 and possibly slightly over. I'm not seeing any 4.5*'s in the TS or ESB zones under $300 on PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE. Please let us know your thoughts on the above and we would be happy to offer further suggestions. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
Myifefitz Posted July 14, 2016 Author Report Posted July 14, 2016 Thank you, I wish I knew the period ahead of time before booking my flight . I will definitely take a look at the Hotwire deals, I did try to bid but I didn't win in Priceline . Another thought about 4 star hotels, are they any good to stay .
thereuare Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 In NYC, with only a few exceptions, all the 4.5* and 5* hotels are generally excellent (and even those that are not excellent are still generally 'quite good')... at the 4* level it begins to get a bit more hotel specific where some are great but others are (for lack of a better word) 'less' great. However, note that there is usually a BIG price difference between 4* and 4.5* hotels no matter the time of year. 1 hour ago, Myifefitz said: I wish I knew the period ahead of time before booking my flight Just some food for thought... how much would it cost you to cancel/re-book your flights to something from 12/16 onward? Even if you pay a $150 penalty, if you could save more than $30/nite on the hotel room, you come out ahead (and maybe the penalty would be even less if the fare for your new dates is lower than the price of your current tickets) For instance, if you traveled 12/18-12/23 there is currently this 4.5* Rockefeller Center hotel for $164/nite which i suspect to be the Omni Berkshire, which gets good reviews... an equivalent hotel would cost you more than $200/nite for your current travel dates. Myifefitz Posted July 14, 2016 Author Report Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into that and let everyone know what's the outcome .
