Hi all, was wondering if someone could help with a 4* bidding strategy for Tampa FL for 4/13/06 . I understand that rates are high for this date due to it being easter weekend. Below are the 2, 4 star hotels from the priceline list and their prices. At this point, i have no maximum bid, just trying to get the cheapest deal. Thanks in advance

Grand Hyatt: $285

Renaissance: $319

edit -- oops, should have been posted to priceline section rather than hotwire

I'll remind you that you're not bidding for "either one of these two hotels" but for a 4* hotel in this zone... you could be the first to report a new hotel or a new star rating for a hotel.

At the 4* level you have 5 re-bid zones available.

Select 4* Airport/Westshore...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* Airport/Westshore and re-bid zone5...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $150.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

After a few failed attempts, i decided to put off my bidding until a later date. Yesterday, I ended up getting the 4* Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay at $85 on a first bid for 4/13.

I should have tried a lower but oh well, glad i was not accepted at the $150 rate a month and a half ago. It seems that patience pays off and hotels are willing to accept a lower price when they're sweating it out, trying to fill rooms.

If you look at current rates for this date at the Hyatt you will see that rates are lower than when you originally posted. This should have been a tip-off to get a new strategy with different bidding amounts than suggested above.... as 'traditional' rates change, so often do 'opaque' rates.

Fortunately still a great deal and a substantial savings!

Enjoy your stay.
