zt6464 Posted June 16, 2016 Report Posted June 16, 2016 I would like some help trying to figure out the best time to place a bid on a 4* hotel in Montreal. I will be traveling for 3 nights from 7/14 to 7/17 and I would like to be in the Downtown (Financial or Festival) area. How far in advanced should I try to bid on a hotel and what price range should I be expecting to be in? Thank you!
thereuare Posted June 16, 2016 Report Posted June 16, 2016 Welcome to BetterBidding! There is no 'best' time to bid for a hotel... the best rate may be available months ahead of your stay OR it could be just a week or two beforehand. Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com, searching your dates, filtering for 4* hotels, and then looking at the area on the map that is covered by the two zones you're interested in... the best rates i'm seeing for 4* hotels starts at about $200/nite; so the question is how much of a discount would you need in order to lock-in a deal at this point in time? What is your expected budget for this trip? (per nite before fees/taxes) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. zt6464 Posted June 16, 2016 Author Report Posted June 16, 2016 I would think it would be great if I could stay around $100/night, but I know that may not be possible so I would be willing to pay up to $150/night if I really have to.
thereuare Posted June 17, 2016 Report Posted June 17, 2016 At current rates i think you will need to be in the $135-$145 area to win a hotel in one of these two zones. So we don't suggest a strategy that is more than you're wiling to pay at the moment, are you willing to bid up to $145/nite at this point in time? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. zt6464 Posted June 17, 2016 Author Report Posted June 17, 2016 I think at this point, I would be more than willing to pay $145/night. Just as long as it is not too much more than $150.
