I'm planning a trip to NYC in June with my 15 year old son. I'd like to Name Your Own Price but am concerned that I'd wind up with only one bed which wouldn't work. If I note 2 traveling adults plus one 15-yr old on a bid for one room, would I be more likely to get the double beds?

looking at 4-star in Midtown/theater district/Empire State Building area. Not picky on the amenities since we won't be there much.

With NYOP and NYC, one bed is highly likely. NYC rooms are often small or very small and two beds - when available - is often a paid upgrade (and no guarantee that the hotel will offer that option.)

 

If two beds is a must, I would suggest looking on HOTWIRE for a listing where bed choice is an option on the detail screen and two beds is one of the options. Or: PRICELINE EXPRESS, looking or a listing with bed choice and where two beds is one of the options. If you see a listing with bed choice, please provide the full list of amenities, star rating, price per night and zone. 

 

If you search for HOTWIRE for 2 adults and 1 child, you should get some form of bedding for the party, but that may be 1 + rollaway, 1 + sofabed or 2 beds.
