skygypz Posted June 4, 2016 Report Posted June 4, 2016 Hi, any tips on how long i can go to bid? and if i lose, is it 24 hours before i can bid again? thanks
thereuare Posted June 4, 2016 Report Posted June 4, 2016 Welcome to BetterBidding! Not sure what you mean by how 'long' you can go to bid (did you mean how 'low' you can bid??), but if your bid is rejected you have to wait at least 2 hours before trying your bid again (although there are techniques/strategies that you can use in order to bid again immediately). If you let us know the dates of your stay, desired star rating, acceptable zones, and maximum budget we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. skygypz Posted June 4, 2016 Author Report Posted June 4, 2016 Hi, we would like June 7-9 in the downtown white house. I just bid 250 and did not get it. Today at 4:50pm and bidding for 4 stars and up. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted June 4, 2016 Report Posted June 4, 2016 What would be your desired max bid per night for this stay? I'm guessing there's something considerable taking place on these dates, as rates are sky high. Cheapest option in the White House area on HOTWIRE is $485. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
skygypz Posted June 4, 2016 Author Report Posted June 4, 2016 Yeah, I was hoping to get it for under $280 a night. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted June 4, 2016 Report Posted June 4, 2016 There's a 4* in the Dupont Circle area for $280 on HOTWIRE, but I'm getting an error every time I click on it. Which zones would be acceptable - only the White House or are surrounding areas acceptable? skygypz Posted June 4, 2016 Author Report Posted June 4, 2016 Hi, I am interested in Dupont Circle actually. I will look again. Thanks. (was hoping to score on Priceline by bidding and stay in the same area) Are the chances just going to go down as we get closer?
thereuare Posted June 5, 2016 Report Posted June 5, 2016 There is no way to know if rates will come down, or move even higher, between now and your check-in date, but with just 2 days before your arrival the hotel already has an excellent idea of occupancy levels for these dates. Maybe they get a large group that needs to cancel at the last minute at which points rates may come down a little... or maybe they get a few more reservations in the next 24 hours that takes up most (or all) of the remaining rooms the hotel has available and rates move even high. However, typically the hotel can't effect demand by dropping prices this close to check-in (as how many people would really decide on a whim to take a trip to DC two days from now because rates are suddenly x% less??) and they would prefer to keep rates as high as possible for any walk-in customers they may receive (who are less likely to walk out and drive to the next hotel to find out how much rates are down the road) What is your maximum bid for a 4* hotel in the Dupont Circle zone? Do you plans have you in this specific area for this trip? This 4* Dupont Cirlce hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $244/nite i believe to be the Omni Shoreham, should this work for your needs: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
