Hi All:

Hope you are doing great. My husbund and I are planning a short vacation to NY (Times Square Area) from June 24 thru 26 and I need help figuring out what hotel is this. This is the description on Hotwire:

  • 5* Times Square North area new to Hotwire hotel
  • Complimentary
    • Free break fastFree Internet
  • Amenities
    • Business centerFitness centerRestaurant(s)
  • 85% recommended
    • Overall satisfaction 4.5 ( the same for all categories)
  • Walk Score 99
  • Know Before You Go
    • An adult over 21 must be present at check-in to assume all liability for the booking.
    • Your account will be charged for the full amount when you book.
    • All bookings are final (no refunds, no changes)
    • This hotel typically charges guests a resort fee of about USD39 per person per night, regardless of how the room is booked. The hotel collects this fee directly from you, so it doesnt show in your Hotwire total.

The $39 per person per night seems a little weird to me.

Thanks in advance. Have a great day.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

In the last few years an increasing number of NYC hotels have started to charge 'resort fees' which is what the fee above is in reference to... fortunately the majority of hotels still do not, but the numbers that do are increasing.

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 5 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates:

Complimentary Breakfast

Free Internet

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

... if this is what you're seeing, my guess for the property above would be the Westhouse Hotel New York.

Does this work for your plans?  If not, i'm very familiar with NYC and if you let us know more about what your needs are for this trip (as well as your maximum budget, per nite before fees/taxes) we will try to help you find the best option(s).

Thanks thereuare. I have to look for more information about the Westhouse Hotel New York, I have never heard about it and the $38 pero person pero night in Resort Fees throws away (this is the first time I see a Resort Fee pero person instead per room). This is the complete amenities list:

FULL AMENITIES: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access

The price increase from 208 to 212 per night.

Is the Westhouse Hotel New York walking distance from Times Square?

Thank you very much for your help.

Have a great day.

While still not as common as Vegas, unfortunately Resort Fees are seen more and more often in NYC. The issue that I have in this case is that - lets say there's another $78 per night in resort fees. So you're paying - effectively - $212 + 78 = $290. If your effective rate after resort fee is $290 + tax, does that make any other listings more appealing? I think the Westhouse is within pretty easy walking distance of Times Square, but do you need to be in/near TS? It's arguably NYC's most "known" area, but the city has so much more going for it.

The Westhouse is indeed walkable (about 10 minutes) to Times Square.... and i agree that you will spend far less time in TImes Square than you think.

If you decide against the Westhouse, let us know what it is that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip, as well as your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes), we can try to suggest some of the best options that meet your criteria.

Thanks for your help. Yes I am not willing to pay that much for being at Times Square. My husband decided not to travel, :(. But thank you very much for your help. Have an amazing day.

Just wanted to confirm that this is, in fact, the WestHouse. Just booked a weekend stay to celebrate my son's 16th birthday. Looking forward to the stay. The reviews are great and at $168/nt the price can't be beat!
