I need one night in Cancun for Mar 10th 2006. Hotwire currently lists a 4 star hotel that I believe is the Intercontinental, however this hotel is not scheduled to open until Mar 1st.

If I book now and the hotel does not open before my dates, will Hotwire refund my money?

It may not matter whether Hotwire takes care of you or not... If you use MasterCard or Visa (not a FAKE-- debit/check card), you have chargeback privileges, which means that if you pay for something that is not delivered to you (in this case, no room for your $$), MC or Visa will refund your money. The catch is that you must file the chargeback claim before 60 days has passed (from the transaction post date, I believe). This is useful info for many purchases (mail-order, building contractors, furniture orders-- anything that involves stuff that has yet to be delivered).

Price came down so I booked this knowing the probable identity in advance and also knowing that Mar 10th is the reopening day after wilma

taxes and fees of 21.89 for a total of $149.89.

Price was $133 using my laptop but $128 using my wife's desktop(although taxes and fees were identical)
