Hello,

This is my first time using Hotwire/Priceline, and I find your website very helpful. I am flying out of JFK on 7/4 and looking for a hotel to stay the night before. (7/3-7/4).

I am looking for a place to stay in 2 areas: Times Square South area to be close to the bus station, and MSG area if Penn Station isn't too crazy around 7-8AM on Monday morning considering it's a holiday. I would like to take the LIRR-Airtrain to the airport.

4.5* Times Square South $112 (standard price $210)

FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

4/5.0 Trip Advisor

Hotwire customer reviews: 95% Recommend amazing with 770 reviews

4* Madison Square Garden $138 (standard price $186)

The only amenities listed is Boutique Hotel

However, the hotwire customer reviews are 100% Recommended Top Rated with 19 reviews.

When I clicked book now, it says "Neat and tidy rooms earned this hotel a 5/5 guest rating."

Thank you.

Welcome to BetterBidding... we're glad to hear you're finding the information here helpful!

Best guess for the 4.5* Times Square South property would be the Westin New York at Times Square... unfortunately with only a solo Boutique amenity showing I don't have a guess for the 4* MSG property.

The LIRR is your best option to get to JFK... assuming your luggage is manageable/roll-able and it's not too hot/humid at that hour of the morning, you could walk to Penn Station from the Westin Times Square (or a $5-$7 taxi ride or $3 subway)

Thank you so much for a very quick response!

I wasn't sure if the hotel in MSG was identified yet..but with 100% recommendation, I thought it must be a really good hotel and probably closer to Penn Station. I found a similar hotel on Priceline Express Deal. The hotel rate is up to 4.5* with the guest score 9/10 for $139 (was $189). Could this possibly be the same hotel? If so, I might try the MSG one.

We will be arriving to PANY, so Westin would be right across the street. I have been to NYC several times, but never been there for the Fourth of July weekend and used LIRR/Air Train to the airport. Would you say that the Penn Station be a bit less crowded in the morning on 7/4? I think I will walk down to the station to familiarize myself the night before. I will have one suitcase which I have dragged up from 42nd to 50th in the past, and have a teenage to help me ;)

Thank you again.

This 4.5* MSG property (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $140/nite with:

Pets Allowed
Business Center
Free Internet
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> would most likely be the Even Hotel which indeed gets excellent reviews.

NOTE: that even at $140, this would be cheaper than the HOTWIRE offer at $138/nite on an all-in basis as hotwire's fees are a little higher on this one

Likewise, this 4* Times Square hotel (again, confirm your dates on the landing page) at $115/nite would be less than the $112/nite offer thru HOTWIRE.  This PRICELINE EXPRESS has:

Pets Allowed
Business Center
Restaurant
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
... and i believe to also be The Westin

Penn Station should be substantially quieter on Monday July 4th vs. a typical Monday as it's a holiday so you won't have the throngs of commuters coming into the city for work (you may also have a 'holiday schedule' on the LIRR but shouldn't be an issue as there should still be very frequent service to Jamaica Station to get the AirTrain)

Hello!

After reading the reviews on EVEN hotel, I really wanted to book it there via PRICELINE. However, I found out that I had an extra $10 off on HOTWIRE and since the MSG hotel on Hotwire wasn't identified yet, I went with the one in Times Square South, and you were correct! I got Westin.

With tax and fees, the total was $147.99 (-$10 discount)=$137.99. I used your BiddingHelper.com link, which was easy to see both websites on one page :)

So, here's the information:

Westin New York Times Square

Amenities: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower.

7/3-7/4 $112

Thank you very much for your help!
