Elderly Traveller
Hi,This is my first post also. I was looking for a 4* hotel for the period of 8 April to 16 April when I came across this string. I am willing to stay in MTW, MTE or Downtown. I notice that most successful bids appear to be for short one or two day stays. Is there a particular stategy to use for bidding a longer stay at the same hotel? Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!I've separated your thread to its own topic since it was for different dates than thread you replied to. As well, as each of you (you and the original poster of the other thread) win a hotel, they will likely be different, and having separate threads will enable us to reflect the winning hotel in the topic title.First question: Are you sure your prefered zones are MTE, MTW, and Downtown? Personally i don't recommend users stay down there unless:1) they have a reason to be there (ie- business meeting, dinner part downtown, etc)2) they can get an incredible deal3) hotels are sold-out elsewhereThe typical user bids MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS.As far as bidding strategies for a longer stay, you have to understand how priceline usually works and why longer stays are often a bit more difficult, and that is explained here: SHOULD I SPLIT MY LONGER STAY PRICELINE BIDLet us know your thoughts on the above (especially regarding the NYC zones) and we'll move forward from there. Elderly Traveller
Thank you. I understand why you moved my post. I'm fine with bidding MTE, MTW and UM/CPS. I prefer not splitting my bid as I want to get as much sightseeing in as possible in the time frame I have and I think packing and moving and unpacking and finding the new places every few days would be too stressful. I appreciate your suggestions and help. Link to comment
thereuare
The idea of splitting your bid for this stay would not be to change hotels very 2-3 days but just once over the stay... but we can try first without splitting the bid since that is what you prefer. What is your maximum bid? We wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you wanted to pay. Elderly Traveller
I'm not that familiar with rates in New York. I would be comfortable at about $175. Is this reasonable? Link to comment
thereuare
It's reasonalbe, but may come up a little short, as you can see this user's NYC PRICELINE BID has one day which overlaps yours and was rejected up to $165.Given you have time before your stay, i would give it a shot first and we can take it from there. When bidding 4* in NYC you have two re-bid zones avaiable. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS and re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $175.Any question feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
