Great site - you seem to have a wealth of information on NYC and I am in hotel option overload - and need help!

Parameters:

Arriving JFK 5/20, leaving Penn station 5/25.

Will have 3 adults plus 1 7year old in one room.

Want to stay south of Central Park, in a safe area - ideally not too far from Penn Station for departure, and close to reasonable food choices.

We will be sightseeing over the weekend, then I will be working near World Trade Center M-W.

We get in late evening on 5/20 so could stay near airport that night, but would prefer one hotel full stay.

Work is paying for Sun-Tues but Fri/Sat are on us.  Would like to spend $250 or less, but for right 4.5+ could go up to $280ish.

Would like to be in 4+ but will consider 3+ for good price/location.

Only real requirement is 2 beds guaranteed (sofa bed ok) and a TV - we wont be in the room/hotel much of the day.

Hope I covered it all - and thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding! (and thanks for the compliments on BetterBidding )

Here are some of the better options i'm seeing...

At the high end (in cost, star rating, and reviews) is:

the 4.5* Times Square South hotel for $286/nite that i'm guessing to be The Muse.

Closer to your target budget i'm seeing:

St Giles The Court for $227/nite

70 Park Avenue for $252/nite

Flatiron Hotel for $228/nite

Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side for $219

... any of the above of interest? (there are all when searching 1room/3adults/1child)

Thank you so much for your help!

Those all seem reasonable - thoughts on best for a 7 year old in tow?

Although the Lower East side would be an easier commute for me. I think I would want to stay a little further north for the rest of the group.

I did see some highly rated 3 stars - I looked on the betterbidding bidding helper easy view and could not identify the same as seen on the hotwire direct:

Hotwire direct:

3 star Chelsea area hotel 90% rating $193 Free internet, free breakfast, pet friendly, business center (but no bed choice) - .

3 star Theater District/Midtown West 90%  $195 Free internet, free breakfast, business center, fitness center

3.5 Madison Square Garden 95% $224 free internet, Restaurant, business center, fitness center

I did not see these same listings (rating/$) in the easy view...

Thanks!

3 star Chelsea area hotel 90% rating $193 Free internet, free breakfast, pet friendly, business center (but no bed choice)

==> not seeing this offer wen searching for 3adults/1child

3 star Theater District/Midtown West 90%  $195 Free internet, free breakfast, business center, fitness center

==> full amenity set should be Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business for which my guess is the Holiday Inn Express New York - Manhattan West Side which is too far west, imo

3.5 Madison Square Garden 95% $224 free internet, Restaurant, business center, fitness center

==> no guess and i don't think any savings/value over the ones previous suggested above

I'm sure your 7 year old will be happy just being in a hotel and his experience won't be effected by which hotel you choose... as long as it's conveniently located and he doesn't need to walk 'forever' before catching the train to start each days activities.
