wawa Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 Hi, its my first time on Priceline and I need help in bidding for a 4* or 4*+ hotel for union square west/nob hill area, for May 7-10. I'm hoping for $180/night, any suggestions? -free wifi
AaronJB Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 Welcome to Betterbidding. Are USE-Nob Hill and USW the only zones of interest? There is no way to guarantee a hotel w/free wifi unless that is listed as one of the guaranteed amenities when selecting zone and star rating. Unfortunately, in major cities, having that appear as a guaranteed amenity - especially at higher star ratings - is very infrequent. If free wifi is of interest, I'd rather suggest HOTWIRE or PRICELINE EXPRESS, where you can look for a listing with free wifi as an amenity. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 I will add to the 'Free Internet' comments above that better to look at your total costs and not just whether something is included for free or not... better to pay $150/nite for a hotel that charges $10 for internet vs. $200/nite for a hotel that includes free internet (ie- $160 vs. $200) To get started are either of these of interest (confirm your dates on the landing page of each): 4* Union Square East hotel for $151/nite with: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess for this one would be the The Westin St. Francis San Francisco On Union Square 4* Union Square West hotel for $168/nite with: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> my guess(es) here would be The Marker San Francisco or the JW Marriott San Francisco Union Square I'm also seeing on HOTWIRE what appears to be: Villa Florence for $107/nite (+$33 resort fee so more like $140/nite when comparing to those above) Serrano Hotel for $132/nite (+$25 resort fee so $157/nite for comparison purposes) Do any of the above work for your needs? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. wawa Posted April 23, 2016 Author Report Posted April 23, 2016 Wow thanks for your prompt response, one question, do hotels get cheaper when it is closer to the travel dates? I could do the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal when it is closer to the date but again I'm not sure if good one may sell out? thanks
thereuare Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 There is no way to know if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your trip. As well, if you like the hotel that is currently being offered, it may not be the one offered as you get closer to your stay. Not sure which PRICELINE EXPRESS deals you're considering, but you could use the following link to book the Villa Florence for $158/nite with a Free Cancellation (so just a few extra dollars than above) On the other hand, the the Marker San Francisco and the JW Marriott are both selling for $249/nite for your dates, so if looking at these (and assuming our guess is correct), it would seem better to lock this one in now at the deeply discounted rates above, imo. I also found the Serrano for $158/nite with free cancellation should this be of any interest. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes. PS- for any of the 'named' hotels above be sure to confirm the dates of your stay and the cancellation policy during the checkout process.
