BKW67 Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 First off, I would like to thank everyone on this board for their immense help. This is my first time using Priceline and I was very nervous. The information and bidding history was of great value.Anyway, I actually did a modified version of the biding technique as I didn't care if I got USE or USW. I was able to get the Hotel Nikko in USW for $85 per night. The rate on the Nikko's site was $179. Here is the bidding strategy I came up with.I chose to go up the USE and then USW looking for any DEALS. Based on the recent history on the board, it look like $75 - $90 was the sweet spot where bids had recently been accepted. So I stopped at the $75 bid for USE and then went up USW until I again hit $75 (see below). I then bid each zones remaining bids. If my last independent bid for USE or USW would have been declined, I would have then combined those two zones and would have been able to go all the way to $125 (as you can see by the below strategy). I thought this was a great way to cover the bottom (4* starting at $50) and go way up.50 New Bid USE Rejected55 Rebid USE, Cathedral Hill Rejected60 New Bid USE, Civic Center Rejected65 Rebid USE, Civic Center, Cathedral Hill Rejected70 New Bid USE, SSF Rejected75 Rebid USE, SSF, Cathedral Hill Rejected50 New Bid USW Rejected55 Rebid USW, Cathedral Hill Rejected60 New Bid USW, Civic Center Rejected65 Rebid USW, Civic Center, Cathedral Hill Rejected70 New Bid USW, SSF Rejected75 Rebid USW, SSF, Cathedral Hill Rejected80 Bid USE, Civic Center, SSF Rejected85 Rebid USE, Civic Center, SSF, Cathedral Hill Rejected80 Bid USW, Civic Center, SSF Rejected - offered counter bid for $22 more.85 Rebid USW, Civic Center, SSF, Cathedral Hill Accepted90 Bid USE, USW 95 Rebid USE, USW, Cathedral Hill 100 Bid USE, USW, Civic Center 105 Rebid USE, USW, Civic Center, Cathedral Hill 110 Bid USE, USW, SSF 115 Rebid USE, USW, SSF, Cathedral Hill 120 Bid USE, USW, SSF, Civic Center 125 Rebid USE, USW, SSF, Civic Center, Cathedral Hill Thanks again everone!!!!BKWP.S. lookup Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Personally, I think excelently located Hotel Nikko is one of the finest hotels one can score in this area on PRICELINE for the $. I would offer that some side of the hotels have better views then others and some rooms are much nicer, w larger bathrooms. More then once i have requested a change of room, a change of building sides and higher floors from the one they have given me and Hotel Nikko happily accomodated me if they had the available rooms. Don't be shy to ask!!
