Hotwire Hotel: 5* New York City (Chelsea) Eventi, a Kimpton Hotel

Travel dates are 5/13 - 5/16.  4 adults, 1 room, 3 nights.  I am interested in Chelsea, LES, Soho, Union Square above 3.5*. Budget is flexible. Would like to shoot for under $300/night but we're willing to splurge for the right place.

 

Or...do you think we'd get a better deal in these areas by bidding 2 rooms on priceline?

I'm very familiar with NYC, and researching hotels can be a time consuming process, so before we investigate the 5 hotels above 'just to get the ball rolling', please give us a bit more information... what is it exactly that you are looking for in a hotel for this trip?  What is it that is more important to you (and how would you rank) budget, star rating, location, reviews, amenities, etc, etc and anything else that may be important to you for this trip.

 

What would make the 'right' hotel that would have you exceed your $300/nite target?  What type of experience is it that you're looking for in a hotel for this stay?

Location is most important. I'd like to be below 30th street in Chelsea, LES, Chinatown, soho, etc. but not as far down as the financial district. Close to subways would be extra nice.

 

This is a sisters weekend and I'm the only one who has been NYC before (I lived in LES for a few years), so I'm also looking to stay in an area and hotel with character. I'd like to stay away from big familiar chain hotels like Holiday Inn, if possible, and lean towards lesser known chains or boutique hotels. We stayed at Kimpton Miami Beach at our last girls weekend and everyone was thrilled.

 

I'd prefer 3.5*+ stars. Over 75% rating with free internet. Great views would be amazing, and icing on the cake. 

 

Sorry bout the "get the ball rolling" comment. I don't intend for you to look up a ton of things for me. I feel like I poked around enough to see that these 5 would be decent options. (Thought of course I am open to your suggestions!!) for example, If the lowest price option above (4* LES) was Holiday Inn on Delancey, I wouldn't want it, but if it was something else I might bite. If you thought the 4.5* Chelsea was the Eventi, i would likely pick that.  The reason I would consider the $300+ room in LES is that I thought it was the Hotel Indigo which is very close to where I used to live & looks super nice and a great location. I would need to show the place to my sisters, though, so I could sell them on the splurge, too.  

 

Does that make sense and give you enough to go on? Or do I need to whittle it down more?
