Pug Mom Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 Checking in: Sat., 3/26 Checking out: Mon., 3/28 Note: Sunday, 3/27 is EASTER Looking for a hotel in the University Area as we have friends staying there. Best option in that zone is a 3* hotel. What should I start bidding at?
AaronJB Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 What would be your desired max bid per night for this stay? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
Pug Mom Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 Current price for the Courtyard by Marriott (one of the Priceline hotels in that zone) is $129/night, so something less than that.
thereuare Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 Are you looking for a minimum 3 star rating? I'm seeing this 3 star University Area hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $119/nite with: Free Parking Business Center Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center ... my guess for this property would be the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Worth Medical Center, and while the same rate as the Courtyard, this Hilton Garden Inn gets excellent reviews and is one of the top rated hotels in the area. Does this work for your needs? If not, where is it that your friends are staying? Pug Mom Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 We typically stay in 4* or 4.5* properties, so I'm looking to get into a 3* property in this zone since it's the best there. Our friends are staying at a Hawthorne Inn w/ two adults and three kids. I'd be fine w/ the Courtyard Marriott or similar. I just don't feel like paying $129/night if I know I can get it cheaper.
Pug Mom Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 I just tried a bid of $75. It got rejected with a counter offer of $102. I added a free re-bid zone, raised my price to $82 and it got rejected, too.
AaronJB Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 I'd still keep trying rather than going with the counter-offer. Rather than bumping by $7, I'd go $85 next, then $87, then $90. Hopefully you won't have to go that high. Pug Mom Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 This is Easter weekend. Started bidding at $75. Got a counter offer at $102. Added a free rebidding zone and went to $82. Came back a day later at $85, got another $102 counter offer. Added a free rebidding zone and went up to $90. Price accepted.
