Priceline Hotel: 4* New York City (Midtown West - Hells Kitchen) Yotel - Times Square

Hello,

I've been to LA for a week in 2014, this will be my second time in the US and first time in NY.

I plan to spend as little as possible on a 4* for a week.

However, many of the 4* hotels I've seen in NY are more like 3* ish... Especially in terms of room sizes...

We will explore NY for a week with my wife, therefore location of the hotel is not that important, all we need is a safe and easy to reach hotel.

Only amenity of importance may be the WiFi, however it is not a must.

I think I can go up to $160 a night for the week.

Any bidding suggestions?

Hello,

Thank you for the response.

Basically I will be looking to stay in Manhattan, while naming my own price I choose all the zones to the South of Central Park.

In Express deals there is 10% off with promotion and I've checked two deals,

Hell's kitchen, no amenities listed, 7 days for a total of 1000 $

Chinatown, pets, internet, restaurant, fitness, no smoking amenities for 1278$

I'd go for Hell's kitchen if it is INK48 but there also is Yotel and I think I do not like it that much.

For Chinatown, it seems to be a Wyndham,

Are my guesses correct?

Any more insight on what to do?

Regards,

With no amenities it's difficult to guess with any degree of certainty, but I'd *guess* the 4* MTW/HK would look to be either Ink48 or the Out. The 4* LES would be a possible match for the Wyndham.

If you bid, are you okay with possibly getting any of the 4*'s South of Central Park? Small rooms are common in NYC, but if you bid on all zones, you face the possibility of much smaller rooms (examples being the 4* Hudson in CPS and the Roosevelt in MTE, among potential others), as well as some possibilities that are "out of the way" a bit, including the OneUN in MTE.

Please list the room rates on a per nite basis (and before taxes/fees) as it makes it easier for us to locate the same hotel when we replicate your search.

I'm doubtful that the MTW property is the Ink48 (and even if it was, although the hotel gets great views, i'd be hesitant to stay there for an entire week as the hotel is not very centrally located, imo)

I'd agree that the LES-Chelsea property would likely be the Wyndham Garden Chinatown.

... does this one work for your needs?  It's in a very interesting neighborhood that has undergone a transformation recently and there are now many restaurants, cafes, boutiques, etc. in the area.  If this does not work for your needs, please give us more information as far as how you would prioritize the importance of price, location, star rating, reviews, etc.

Hello, $125/Night for MTW HK, $ 162 for LES CT.

Also today there is one more new offer, $151/Night for Times Square, with Business Center, Fitness Center, WiFi and Restaurant. Any guesses on this one?

Thank you for the advice, I'd like to have a somewhat spacious and clean room for a week, other than that we really do not have any conditions for the hotel. Because we intend to walk as much as we like around the city, have some good food and explore the island. As per you suggest, I'm removing CPS, MTE and MTW. In fact, maybe it is best for me to use Express deals since most if not all hotels have smaller rooms.

What about going for a 4.5 * instead? Do you think it will fit my budget?

Best guess for this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer would be the Hotel Mela Times Square.

A 4.5* will get you a higher rated hotel, but not necessarily a larger room... the room size does not really have a correlation to the star rating; but may be a moot point anyway as i'm doubtful that at current rates you will be successful for a 4.5* for $160 or less.

Does the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above work for your needs?

Let us know how it goes, how how you'd like to proceed, and we'll take it from there.

Well, I ended up getting the Yotel for $118/night.

Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase after reading the comments. Anyway we will be spending most of the time outside walking.
