Hello

1st trip to NYC and wanting to stay June 16-22 in a 4 to 5 star hotel.  1 room ... 1 bed needed.

Would like to pay $150-$250 per night.

Even Hotel on west 35th is charging $310 per night

Preferred location would be close to Times Square or similar, but unfamiliar with NYC neighbourhoods.  Would accept a safe neighborhood with restaurants, cafes, shopping and good subway access.

thank you for your assistance and suggestions

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Depending upon your flexibility your budget shouldn't be much of an issue, but some of the hotels offered are near the lower end of the 4* quality range.  Any interest in any of the following:

Wyndham New Yorker for $176/nite

Martha Washington for $184/nite

Roosevelt New York for $196/nite

A little over your budget and outside of Times Square:

Wyndham Garden Chinatown for $215/nite... but is in an interesting neighborhood with new bars, boutiques, restaurants, etc. and the hotel gets excellent reviews.

Would any of the above be of interest?

Thanks for the suggestions.

perhaps the 2 Wyndhams

i am willing to go up to $250 per night.  I'd prefer to stay with a 4.5 or 5 star hotel with excellent reviews.

Dont need amenities outside of a nice room though.  Any other suggestions?

thank you

There is usually a very large price jump in NYC when going from 4* to 4.5* properties, but here is what i'm seeing (some of the 'better' 4* properties and a 4.5* option):

4* Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel fro $222/nite

4.5* TRYP by Wyndham Times Square South for $247/nite

4* Sheraton Times Square for $248/nite

4.5* Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York for $248/nite (same comments above about Lower East Side, but the hotel gets excellent reviews)

4.5* Nomo Soho $249/nite

4* Even Hotel New York Times Square South for $254/nite

4.5* The Muse New York, A Kimpton Hotel for $264/nite

Any of the above of interest at these prices... or do you prefer one of the less expensive Wyndham properties previously referenced?

Hi

Thanks for the suggestions

Id be definitely interested in Even Hotel Times Square or Hotel Indigo LES.  (The Muse or Fitzpatrick as alternatives)

Can you advise on how I should bid to get Even or Indigo for as low as possible?

Thank you

Use either of the following links (confirming your dates on the landing page before purchase):

4.5 star Lower East Side for $248/nite with Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Free Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center

==> best guess for this one would be the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York

I'm no longer seeing what i believed to be The Even offered when searching for your dates.

NYC Times Square - Theatre

PRICELINE EXPRESS lists 2 properties under 4star

Best guess for the 4 star would be the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel... for the 4.5* my guess would be The Premier Hotel Times Square, with a less likely but still possible secondary guess of the W New York Times Square.

I will add that a short walk from your hotel the following are worth a stop:

Economy Candy

108 Rivington

tons of nostalgic candy from yesteryear and today and a large selection of bulk candy too (if you like dark chocolate there is none better than their chocolate covered graham crackers)

Kossars Bialy's

367 Grand St

if you can get 'em hot out of the oven it's worth stopping in for some warm bread

Doughnut Plant

379 Grand St

i'm not a doughnut eater but my kids approve... they certainly look great and a lot of unique flavors
