ArielS Posted March 4, 2016 Report Posted March 4, 2016 Total newbie here trying to do my first Hotwire bid. London-Westminster/Victoria 4* 87$ 87$ (listed as a 174$ full price) March 11-12, 2016 75% recommended Amenities: Business center, Internet access, Restaurant(s), Smoke-free rooms It looks like the Dolphin House is the most common 4* in Victoria, but it's also coming up in other deals with a pool, so I'm not sure if this is it. Nothing else available on the full price Hotwire site have a recommended rating in the 70s% How close are those usually? 4* City of London 97$ (listed as 172$) 85% Recommended March 13-14, 2016 Amenities: Business center, fitness center, internet access, restaurant I think this is The Tower Hotel, but that also seems too good to be true, discount wise. Yes, I plan to switch hotels, I have no problems doing that and want to take advantage of cheaper City rates during the weekend, these seem like good deals Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 Welcome to BetterBidding! Note that as posted above, you would still need a room fro the nite of March 12... are you looking to change hotels each nite of your trip or do you already have a hotel reserved for the nite of 3/12? To make the board better organized, please use separate threads for each leg of your trip. We will use this thread for your first nite of 3/11-3/12, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC for the additional nite(s) of your stay. This enables the topic title of each to be used to reflect what you ultimately decided to do for each leg of the stay, as well as enable each to have their own link in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps. These amenities are common for a hotel of this star rating in any city so i'm not certain, but my guess for this one would be the Grange Rochester Hotel (although i'm fairly certain it's likely not The Dolphin House) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ArielS Posted March 6, 2016 Author Report Posted March 6, 2016 Thank you for such a quick response, it was of much help. Unfortunately I have altered my plans after much further research and will add a new topic for your input.
ArielS Posted March 6, 2016 Author Report Posted March 6, 2016 Thank you for such helpful information before. I have found two possibilities for the entire trip. Dates: March 11-14 (3 nights) 1. 3.5* in Westminster/Victoria area 93$ 85% recommended Amenities: Smoke free rooms, business center, internet access Ability to chose king, double or single beds for no additional price. According to what's available I am unsure. My closest guess is The Sanctuary House Hotel, but it's price has gone up. OR 2. 4* in Kensington/Shepards Bush 89$/night 85% recommended Amenities: Free internet, smoke free rooms, fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, spa services No option to chose bed type My guess is either the Kensington Close Hotel or the Radisson Blu-Edwardian My other option is a regular booking at The Jade in Earl's Court for 260$. I am interested in Victoria for the location and the Radisson if that's what it actually is. Searches made through the HOTWIRE search here.
thereuare Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 I'm not certain of either of the above, but i'm highly doubtful that the first one is The Sanctuary House Hotel. Do any of these work for your needs (confirm all dates on the landing page): 4* Kensington - Earls Court for $83/nite with: Restaurant, Free Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center --> best guess would be the Dorsett Shepherds Bush 4* Westminster - House of Parliament - Victoria for $102/nite with: Restaurant, Free Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center --> the Park Plaza Riverbank London would be my guess for this one Would either of these work for your needs? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. ArielS Posted March 9, 2016 Author Report Posted March 9, 2016 Thank you very much for the help. It's taught me a lot about the process and IDing hotels. You guys provide a fantastic service. I'm almost positive the link you gave for the Kensington Hotel is indeed the Dorsett Sheperds Bush, and it even went down to 79$ a night. Unfortunately, I had to go with another option for a few personal reasons. I'm looking forward to using the site for my next booking.
thereuare Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Thank you for closing this thread with your decision. When PRICELINE / HOTWIRE don't work for your needs, as requested above, it would be appreciated if you booked thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate bookings. Have a good trip. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
