4* Hoboken - North Bergen

3/20 - 3/24 : $125/night

From biddinghelper:

FULL AMENITIES: Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking

Traveling with us + 2 teen sons for a Spring Break NYC trip.

It would be nice if this is the Westin Jersey City Newport (guessing based on a thread from last year), as the goal is to be able to easily take PATH into the city.

What other possible properties might it be?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Best guess for the property above would be the Sheraton Suites Lincoln Harbor (which you would commute to NYC via bus that picks-up/drops-off virtually in front of the hotel, but is a bit less convenient (and less cool if you don't typically ride trains/subways in your own hometown) than the PATH train.  There is also a ferry available for guests of this hotel which is even cooler than the train, but it's expensive (even if staying here i would only do once for the experience... as it's too costly compared to other options)

NOTE that HOTWIRE has recently divided this area and the Westin is now in their 'Jersey City' zone, so not even in the zone above.  For your dates i'm seeing what appears to be the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson for $195/nite... however, at this price i think you have better options directly in Manhattan (which would also be more convenient than commuting in from Jersey City... not to mention the 'cool' factor of staying directly in NYC vs. Hoboken/Jersey City)

For example, for not much more than the Hoboken-North Bergen hotel above, HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Lower East Side for $144/nite with Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business... best guess for this one would be the Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side. (and the $20/day different can be considered a 'wash' given you would spend that commuting on the PATH train anyway for 4 people RT each day)

What are your thoughts on this one and staying directly in Manhattan?

I have extensive knowledge of this area so any questions feel free to ask.

From where are you driving in from?  You can sometimes park at a train station enroute leave your car at the station for a few days (either free or at a lower rate than NYC) and then take the train into the city.  However, this is usually a more viable option for stays longer than 4 nites and when only 1 or 2 guests (as it becomes harder to make up the train fare for 4 people to make it worthwhile)

We are driving from Ohio. Will look into the train idea, but with 4 it probably won't be much of a saving.

Other options from expanding the searching to include Manhattan. I realize this is a long list, but if something jumps out that you recognize I'd be grateful for the feedback (or feel free to just ignore me):

3.5* Upper East Side $155/night: Free internet; indoor pool; pool; business center; access visual; access hearing; access path of travel; in-room accessibility

The only 3.5* on this site's list is Marmara, but the web site price is >$300 so that seems unlikely to be it.

3* Times Sq North $159/night: Free internet; fitness center; pool; restaurant; business center; access visual; access hearing; access path of travel;

3* Theater - Midtown West $152/night: Free internet; Boutique hotel

2* Chelsea $142/night: Free breakfast; internet access  -- Hotwire has a blue bubble that says "The last person got the Chelsea Savoy"

4* WTC - Wall St $185/night: Free internet; fitness center; restaurant; business center (Holiday Inn or Doubletree?)

Let's backtrack a moment...

What is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this trip and what aspects (price, quality, location, etc) are most important to you?

To give us a better idea of what you are or are not looking for... why not the Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side?  This is a newer hotel, has an excellent 4.5/5.0 TA rating (so quality shouldn't be an issue), and  the price is less any of the offers you listed above... so what would you be hoping to gain from a much lower rated hotel (2 star vs. 4 star) that also has a lower TA rating (4.0 vs. 4.5) and a lower ranking among all hotels in NYC?

Congratulations on your success!

I think you make a good decision and are hopefully pleased with the outcome.

Around the corner from this property is a place your kids (and likely you too!) will really enjoy:

Economy Candy

108 Rivington St

--> a HUGE assortment of candy, both old and new, as well as lots of bulk candies and nuts (all at good prices)

Also, in the morning this is worth a stop if you can time it when the bialys are warm and out of the oven:

Kossar's Bagels & Bialys
367 Grand St

... and few doors down from Kossar's to the left is:

Doughnut Plant

379 Grand St
