princess Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I'm new to BetterBidding, so please bear with me. I'm looking for a 4* hotel in Chicago's North Michigan Avenue area (preferrably the InterContinental) checking in October 31st and out November 3rd. We have a wedding rate of $179, but that's a bit pricey for us, so I'm hoping you can help!Is it too early to bid on priceline? I haven't tried it yet. What would you suggest? Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Welcome to BetterBidding!Certainly not too early to start bidding.I'll start by saying that there is no way to target the InterContinental. As well, there are at least five 4* hotels in this area so the odds do not favor you getting the IC. Hotwire is another option as it's sometimes easier to target specific hotels, but i quickly checked for your dates and didn't see it offered.I didn't check prices at the hotel websites for these dates, but if occupancy levels are 'normal', a 4* hotel can usually be had in the area for $65-85/nite.To move forward, you'll need to make sure you understand re-bidding, which is explained HERE.The concept of Re-Bidding is as complex as Priceline gets, but it's really not too difficult, although most <new> people usually have a few questions so please read the above and ask anything you don't understand. If you think you understand re-bidding, post or PM me what you think your re-bid zones are (there are 4 of them) and then i'll post a strategy for you to follow for your bid. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
