Hi,

we are going to manhattan and saw this in hotwire (NY midtown east 4*) for April12-17 at $235/night with amenities as follows:

FULL AMENITIES: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

I was wondering what hotel this is?

thanks,

I'm not currently seeing this property offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, are you searching HOTWIRE for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children?

If you are looking to stay in this zone and around this price, i am seeing this 4.5* Midtown East hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $224/nite with Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Free Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center... my guess for this one would be the Omni Berkshire Place, which gets very good reviews.

i am still seeing it in my search and i am searching hotwire for a room for 2 adults/2 children.  with the free breakfast for the 4 of us, would this be a deal?

though we are still looking for something below $200 for a room for 2A/2C preferably near times square or in the midtown area.

thanks,

I see it now when searching for 2adults/2children...

A property with this amenity set has not yet been reported to the board, and with only 7 reviews by previous HOTWIRE customers, i assume this is likely a new hotel recently added to their system (or a previous hotel recently upgraded/downgraded).

There aren't too many 4* properties that serve a complimentary breakfast, but i'm still not certain of which one this is... the San Carlos Hotel New York would be at least one possibility, but that's just a guess and i'm not certain.

With so few reviews i wouldn't put too much credence in the 100% recommendation figure, but the 4.5/5.0 TA rating should at least ensure a very comfortable stay, regardless of whether it turns out to be the San Carlos or not.

if this is the san carlos hotel, is this a better option than what these other hotels might be that i am seeing for the same dates and 2A/2C?

1) 4.5* rockefeller area $234/night.   FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom

2) 4* times square north area $219/night   FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Suite, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Internet access, Kitchenette, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom

would an amenity with a free breakfast a better deal?  i am asking because there are other hotels in the 3.5* category that has these.

thanks,

4.5* Rockefeller Center

--Possible match for the Omni Berkshire

4* TS North

--My guess would be the Manhattan Club with a slightly different amenity set.

my kids are 12 and 17.

which has the better value if the hotels are really manhattan club, san carlos hotel, and the omni  berkshire at the rate it is offered?

thanks,

It would be between the Omni and the San Carlos... the only issue with the San Carlos is that this property has never been reported to the board before and as implied above, i'm less confident about this one (although with the high TA rating showing whatever it is i'm sure will be very nice, i just can't say with any high degree of confidence that it will be the San Carlos)

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but if you prefer to try for the San Carlos, since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, go for the Omni for the balance of your trip (but you'll also need to search for the subset of your full date range above to make sure that the Omni appears for your shorter date range)

Any questions feel free to ask.

I have expanded my search to include 3* in times square north/south, for 2A/2C and found these:  what do you guess these hotels are;

1) 3.5* $159/night, times square north. FULL AMENITIES: Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

2) 3* $166/night, times square north. FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

3) 4* $203/night, times square south. FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking

Best guess/comments for the above:

1) 3.5* $159/night, times square north.

==> this property has a 30% recommendation by previous HOTWIRE guests, do you think this is a realistic option for you and your family? (but my guess would be the Hotel Manhattan at Times Square)

2) 3* $166/night, times square north.

==> Holiday Inn Midtown 57th St

3) 4* $203/night, times square south.

==> Paramount Hotel Times Square New York (but again, with a 40% recommendation by previous HOTWIRE guests, is this really a good option?)

Thanks for your reply.  one more stab before i will book.  again expanded my search to include grand central area and empire state building area for 2A/2C. Can you comment on this?

1) 4* $219/night, empire state building. FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access

the 4.5* $234/night, rockefeller center is not available anymore , seems it has gone up to $258/night.

A new amenity set for the Affiniate Shelburne or the Affinia Dumont would be my best guess for this ESB property.

Guess you weren't really quite ready.

Have you checked the Hotwire Hotel List for possible matches for any of the above?

I'm very familiar with NYC... if you let us know exactly what you're looking for in a hotel for this trip, desired star rating, acceptable zones, and your maximum budget, i'm confident we can likely choose the best options among the offers.

Are you now willing to pay $300+ for a room fort this trip?

thanks for the help.

looking to stay near times square, and willing to pay around $300/night for a nice (great) hotel in that area.   travelling with family and this time be watching broadway shows.

though, i am still considering other choices outside the times square area  if the price difference is significant.

last time the family was in NYC, we were able to get Crowne Plaza in times square area.

2x

1) 4* Times square north, $255/night

--> Sheraton New York

2) 4* Times square south, $265/night.

--> Millennium Broadway (although a small and less likely chance of the Crowne Plaza)

3) 4* Times square south, $303/night

--> Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square NYC
