janerondeau Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 As writted in my message : February 12 to Feb 14. Empire state building area
thereuare Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Sorry we missed your dates in the first post (we read so many posts in a day that sometimes if the month isn't capitalized it may blend in with the rest of the post) I saw today a deal with 143$/night on a 4 star hotel 90% recommended and i was wondering what it could be ?What are the amenities associated with this property? Also, are you searching for more than the default 1room/2adults as i'm seeing some offers for less then $143/nite. ...and need to be close because luggage. If you have a lot of luggage you will likely be taking a taxi to the hotel anyway, so i wouldn't necessarily restrict yourself to only this zone... better to spend an extra $5 on a taxi if you're able to get a 'better' (either location, reviews, and/or price) then restrict yourself to only this zone. Let us know the details of the hotel you're seeing, as well as confirm if you need more then one room or more then double occupancy, and we'll take it from there. I'm very familiar with NYC... what is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this trip? janerondeau Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 Thank you very much !!!So i'm looking for a hotel near Penn Station for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend (Queen or King size bed). It would be great to have a nice clean hotel without paying more than like 180 a night, think it's possible ? Also, i read some reviews on TA saying that some hotels don't book reservations made with Hotwire and clients arrive and there are no rooms available? So that's also what i'm kind of scared about. I booked throught Hotwire a few times before but here in Quebec and i always had great service but i wonder if NYC hotels like it or not... So what i was looking at was a 4 star hotel in Empire state building area, 90% recommendend with boutique hotel, fitness center, business center + self service laundry, They say the last one who booked with that got Martha Washington Hotel. THANKS A LOT :-)
thereuare Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Hotels, just like airlines and car rental companies, routinely overbook, as they know that 'on average' x% won't show up and they can collect extra revenue. All is fine until everyone that has a reservation shows up... but this can happen regardless of how you booked. However, unless you're coming to town during a major conference, convention, or other event that would typically cause hotels to sell-out, it's an infrequent enough event that i wouldn't be too concerned about it (and again, has little relevance as to whether you book thru PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, Expedia, Travelocity, etc). Also, note that with HOTWIRE you can't guarantee bed type unless this option is offered during the check-out process. PRICELINE EXPRESS does guarantee a bed type for some hotels if you see an offer that shows 'Bed Choice' (but sometimes the bed choice is just a room description, you need to find one that specifically lists a 'Queen' or 'King' bed) For the HOTWIRE offer above, is that the list of amenities associated with this offer? What is the room rate per nite? (before taxes/fees) Lastly, are you open to other zones (as per my previous comments above) or are you only looking at the ESB zone?
