Hotwire Hotel: 4.5* New York City (SoHo - Tribeca) The James New York

Hello - 

I've been through the hotel list and am having trouble identifying the hotels available through Hotwire's Easy View.  My dates are 1/23-1/24 and I'm looking specifically in the Soho-Tribeca area.

 

Any ideas on which properties these might be?

4.5* $161  -  FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access

4.5* $203 -  FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access

 

I'd also consider this:

5* $226 -  FULL AMENITIES: Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Spa services

Are there any truth to the "Last person booked got "this hotel" on Hotwire?  When I click through it gives me hotel names but I wasn't sure if that was reliable or not.  

For example - if I click through to the $161 4.5* it shows " Book Soon, the last person got The James New York:.

After going back through the hotel list, I'm thinking maybe the 5* is the Smyth that has been bumped up a * ?  That seems to fit the amenities because of the golf/tennis/spa.

--> I agree with your guess of the Smyth Hotel having been upgraded since last reported to the board

 

Not sure how much you need to be in the Soho zone, but i would also consider this 5 star Chelsea hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for just $130/nite with Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center... best guess here would be an upgrade of the Eventi, a Kimpton Hotel since it was last reported to the board, and it gets great reviews at quite a bit less than most of your options above.  Should this prove to be some other property, you still have a good 'safety net' given this offer shows an excellent 9.0+ user review rating from previous guests.

A new one popped up since this morning - any guesses on this one?

My preference is to Soho as friends are staying at The James.  I was hoping that hint on the $161 could be correct and that it was in fact The James, but wasn't sure how reliable that is.  But I'll definitely consider the Kimpton possibility as it sounds like a lovely property as well.

I'm sorry i don't have any insight into the this latest 4.5* property from HOTWIRE, but i will add:

 

It would be a very easy commute from the Eventi to The James as both are located right near the 1 train.  As well, depending upon your plans for the day, i would think there is a good chance that your friends meet you near the Eventi as it is a bit more centrally located (for the average visitor, again, not knowing your exact plans in the city).

 

You could also consider the following 4.5 Star Soho (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $191/nite with Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Free Internet, Fitness Center... my guess would be the Nomo Soho, which is about a 5 block walk to The James

 

I'd also suggest entering the address of The James into the search box at our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com (search within a 1 mile radius) to see which other hotels are closest to The James (you can also filter the results to only show hotels above a certain star rating, in a given price range, etc)

I ended up booking the $160 (it dropped $1 :-P ) 4.5* Soho-Tribeca Hotwire Hot Rate and it was The James Hotel.  I'm very happy as my friends booked the same hotel for $255 + taxes.  I strongly considered the 5* Chelsea (Eventi) but since our plans will strongly revolve around Soho + Little Italy it made more sense to stay in that area.

Thanks again for all of your help and please let me know if there is something I need to do to update this thread with my success.  And I did book directly through the BetterBidding Bidding helper site.
