We'll be staying for 3 nights towards the end of April. I've heard there are some particularly bad areas of DC, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Staying April 29th - May 1st and have budgeted approx. $100/night.

None of the Priceline hotels are in a particularly bad part of town. With some of the hotels in the Downtown/White House and Convention Center/Capital Hill zones you would probably want to exercise some extra caution late at night, but no big deal.

I think most visitors to DC choose the following zones (not in any particular order):

Whilte House-Downtown

Convention Center-Capital Hill

Dupont Circle-Woodley Park

I would suggest have an idea of what itineraries you would like to do and then see which areas are within close proximity. We do have a PRICELINE MAP for the Washington DC area so that can help too.

Once you decide upon your zones we will be able to suggest a strategy to follow.

What is more important, your first choice of zone above or price? (ie- would you pay more for a hotel in the White House/Downtown zone or are you looking for the lowest price in any of the three zones above?)

What is your minimum star rating?

Need to clarify...

1) your previous budget was $100/nite... you're now increasing this to $150?

2) since you say that zone is more important than budget, you would prefer something in the White House zone at $150 rather than something in the Convention Center or Dupont zone for $85? (just making sure we're on the same page, as this isn't the preference of most)

Sorry to be bouncing around. I should have said $150 is my max and $100 is where I'd like to be. As you know I'm flexible but want to be in atleast a 3* and in a decent area.

I prefer the White House zone so I'll search there first and then expand to the others if it's not accepted.

I thought we were just going to do the three nights but in talking with my wife we're actually doing the night of the 29th and checking out the afternoon of the 3rd. So the nights of the 29th, 30th, 1st, and 2nd.

We'll start with a 3* in the White House zone up to $100 as that is the only thing i'm currently clear on (not even sure if $100 is the right figure, but we'll stop there nonetheless).

You only have one re-bid zone available at the 3* level, so there's really not too much you can do without adding your other zones. I doubt the following will be successful, but it's worth trying just to rule it out and then take it from there:

Select 3* White House/Downtown...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75.
