AaronJB Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the Extended Stay America - Miami - Airport - Doral - 87th Avenue South may have been upgraded to 2.5*. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
tennisray Posted December 29, 2015 Author Report Posted December 29, 2015 Thank you. I looked it up and it doesn't look like it will work (location/reviews). I will check to see if rates come down. I am staying at the Cambria Blue Lagoon for 17-19th, so I'll hope that the rate will go down and we can just add a night through HOTWIRE.
thereuare Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 I will check to see if rates come down. What is your budget for this additional nite? I am staying at the Cambria Blue Lagoon for 17-19th...Was this a HOTWIRE purchase? If so, can you please post the details of your win to the board as a NEW TOPIC... if not, please use our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your future regular rate purchases (and perhaps you can use it now by searching by the address of the Cambria Blue Lagoon and then use the filter/sort features to only show hotels on the map that are within your budget (by using the price slider at that site) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. tennisray Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 We have $75 in HOTWIRE $. So, we would like to find something in that range (up to $90).
thereuare Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 I am staying at the Cambria Blue Lagoon for 17-19th...Was this a HOTWIRE purchase???? I'm not seeing anything at 2.5* or higher around this price point... have you also checked nearby zones? tennisray Posted December 31, 2015 Author Report Posted December 31, 2015 Sorry for the confusion...The other nights were booked using choice hotel reward points. Yes, I don't see any rates other than the original hotel for $67 that are desirable. However, I'm hoping that as the date draws nearer, the rates will go down...is that not something I should count on? we are flexible in that we can stay at my friend's house in the worst case scenario. (I'd rather not, since he has 4 kids, one being a baby, and we'd have to sleep in his foyer! Also, I'm not sure when else we'd be using the HOTWIRE bucks that will expire by November).
thereuare Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 I'm hoping that as the date draws nearer, the rates will go down...is that not something I should count on? It's something you can hope for... but certainly not something that you can count on. If a hotel gets more new reservations and fewer cancellations in the coming then expected, rates would rise from here, and vice-versa. Like anything else, rates are mostly a function of supply/demand. tennisray Posted January 6, 2016 Author Report Posted January 6, 2016 MIA-Airport West Doral area all suites hotel 3 star 1/16-1/17 $105/nite according to bidding helper: FULL AMENITIES: Free breakfast, Free parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby This is more than we wanted to spend (ideally $70-$80), but it says it is 100% recommended. If this is a highly rated tripadvisor hotel, we would be willing to spend the extra $. We are hoping that it is closer to the east end of Doral (closer to airport/Miami Springs). Thanks!

tennisray Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Just wanted to close this thread as OP. this hotel went up in price and we didn't end up getting a hotel for this one night. We are going to stay with my friend instead. It is a good reminder that if you don't have a back-up plan, then book when you think the rate is fair.
AaronJB Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 Thank you for closing the thread and enjoy your trip. For the future please book through our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate bookings.
