elspeth Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 First post -first visit to New York 4-28-16 to 5-5-16 2people 3.5 stars $125 per night. No reviews and no amenities listedIs this a good idea? Will I get a better deal waiting till nearer the time? Budget $150 per night before tax. Want to get the best value for money in a clean safe hotel ideally close to the subway. Happy for suggestions for other areas which suit my budgetThanks for your help.
AaronJB Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Unfortunately, with no amenities there's really no way to ID the property. Still, as these dates go, $125 is certainly a good price in comparison to what else is available at this point in time. I'm not seeing anything else in midtown under $150 at 3.5*+, but there are definitely some options in the $170-195 neighborhood, including what appears to be the Tryp Times Square for $170 - let us know if this is of interest and we would be happy to point out which listing is which. There is no way to guarantee a hotel right by the subway. While there is no way to know what rates will do between now and your stay, this is generally a busier/more expensive period with nicer Spring weather. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. thereuare Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 Is this a good idea? Will I get a better deal waiting till nearer the time? This is a very expensive time of year in NYC and i'm doubtful that you will do much (if any) better by waiting... a 3.5* hotel at $125/nite is not typically seen during this time of year in NYC. Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite(s) of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. elspeth Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 Thank you for your replies. Decided not to go for it last night as there was no info. When I looked again to try out the '1 night strategy' it seems the hotel is now $180 - out of my price range.I will keep lookingThanks again for the advice

Keep in mind our free service, RateDrop.com also offers alerts for price declines on Hot.wire, Price.line and regular rate listings, but this is a busy period so I would try to lock something in if you see a deal that appeals on price.
