Tavrid Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 Thanks,Question is 6-8 November5* Central Park South area hotel$940* $243 per night Weekend deal! 74% off75% recommendedFULL AMENITIES: Fitness center,Restaurant(s),Business center,Internet access. Priceline give median price for this area 895$ 7+ with Business Center only. Second question is 4* Central Park South area hotel$294* $177 per night 40% off70% recommendedFULL AMENITIES: Business center, Fitness center Indoor pool(s) Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Spa services.I'm think it's Le Parker Meridien (because SPA), but zone of 56St is other - Rockefeller area.
thereuare Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 I don't have a guess for the 5* property, but with only 5 reviews by previous HOTWIRE guests, this is likely a new hotel recently added to the HOTWIRE system OR a hotel recently upgraded. For the 4* hotel, if you search using the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com, do you then see more amenities then what you've listed above, as i see the following (you need to use the EASY VIEW tab in order to see the complete list): Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Spa Deaf Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible ... although it's rare, i'm going to go out on a limb given the newness of this zone and guess that HOTWIRE has mis-classified the Le Parker Meridien as being in the CPS zone (where i agree with you that the main entrance is actually in the Times Square North zone, although the hotel does have an entrance/exit on 57th St as well) I'm very familiar with NYC... is this the only zone you're considering? Is there something in particular you're looking for in a hotel for this trip? What is your maximum budget? (per nite before fees/taxes)? Tavrid Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 In this new areas price is good for now (great discount). My budget - not more $200/night and i want to bid at priceline for $150 for 4-5* hotels.Any tourstic area of Manhattan - but good hotel (regular price of $300+). P.S. % of recommed by guest is valid between hotwire named hotels and bidding? All 5* hotels in South Central Park Area is 90+%.P.S.2. Book soon! The last person got the Viceroy New York - small help from Hotwire
thereuare Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Few flaws in your logic... In this new areas price is good for now (great discount). The crossed out rate is not necessarily the regular rate of the specific hotel offered, but an average rate of hotels in the zone at this star rating; i wouldn't use this percent discount effect my decision of which hotel to purchase, as it's meaningless. My budget - not more $200/night and i want to bid at priceline for $150 for 4-5* hotels. So the 5* at $243/nite isn't even within your budget... nor is there a real interest in the 4* if your intention is to bid on PRICELINE? So why research these properties if your goal is to bid on PRICELINE? Any tourstic area of Manhattan - but good hotel (regular price of $300+).There is no way to bid on PRICELINE only for hotels that are over a specific retail amount, you have to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. P.S. % of recommed by guest is valid between hotwire named hotels and bidding? All 5* hotels in South Central Park Area is 90+%.I'm not sure what it is exactly that you're asking here, but there is little correlation between the hotel showing on HOTWIRE and what you will get when bidding on PRICELINE, as there are too many different variables, each service uses different zones, boundaries, and may assign a different star rating to the same hotel. P.S.2. Book soon! The last person got the Viceroy New York - small help from HotwireThis information is in reference to the last person who bought a hotel in this zone at this star rating, not necessarily in relation to the specific hotel currently being offered. If you'd like to start by bidding on PRICELINE (with the understanding that you have to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose), then let us know which zones are acceptable and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, what is your real budget... why stop your bidding at $150 if your budget is $200? (or is it $200 all-in?) Tavrid Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 So, goal is inexpensive visit New York for the 9-th Wedding anniversary.I need only 2 nights (after we cruise), the first that would sleep after a transatlantic flight, for this reason I dismissed all the 1-2-3 star hotels and hostels and aptr's.I usually stayed at the Accor network worldwide in NY this is Novotel and Sofitel, but the prices are $300+many-taxes more expensive from anywhere of the world. For info: from another continent my tickets cost 335 euros.Hotwire as a backup option. Classic booking sites is not an option by price.I used to bet the priceline before and used your site experience and list of hotels. Has Little experience.I want to get a hotel in a good travel location for adequate money. I check this month win's table - only few hotels, bid price is ~180$ and high.Hotel Area: from 70th street to 10th street all wide of Manhattan.-Le Parker Meridien 177$ - excluded from wish list (resort fee, slow elevators, etc.) Price: 200$ with tax is best budget. Impossible for 4-5*?!I'm really after your messages and "attack of discounts shopaholic" revered text in small print - the discount is 74% of advertising.
Tavrid Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 Make half-hundred bids for MW, ME, CPS, EMBA, TS areas step-by-step from 120 up to 151$ - nothing for today from 4.5* hotels.I check 1 week early dates (for tommorow check-in) - starting price is lower for 20-30%.This is a way to bid in last day?
thereuare Posted October 30, 2015 Report Posted October 30, 2015 Rates are date specific, so you can't necessarily compare rates for tomorrow check-in with rates for a 1+ week check-in and make a determination that bidding near/far is better (or worse). What if the first date you check has very little happening in the city and therefore rates are lower then when you check 1+ week in advance (where there may be a few conventions or other events in town... and therefore rates are higher)... the difference in rates could have nothing to do with how near/far the check-in date is. At current rates $150 is not in the right ballpark for a 4.5* hotel, you will need to be closer to $225/nite at this point in time, imo. I see this 4* Midtown West hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $178/nite with: Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center ... my best guess for this one would be the Sheraton New York, should this be of any interest.
