meashford Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 Hello. I am new to this site. I am looking for a hotel for my Mom and I to stay at near the main tourist sites of New York. Our price point is around $250 a night before tax and all. We will be arriving 12/4/15 and leaving 12/7/15. We dont need too many amenities really, just a clean and safe hotel to stay at. Four star max but nothing less than 3. I am interested in trying the name your own price tool or Hotwire. I have never used either, so I could use some advice. I usually stay at Hilton and Mariott for business and book direct. Any help would be appreciated.
thereuare Posted October 21, 2015 Report Posted October 21, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you're not aware, note that you're coming to NYC during one of the most seasonally expensive weekends of the year. Currently, if you're willing to stay downtown you can get a nice 4* hotel for less than $200/nite, something nice in the Lower East Side zone (something like the Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side) for about $225/nite, a 4* hotel in the MSG or ESB zones for $250/nite, or a 3.5* in the MTE or MTW zones for $250/nite. Based upon the above which do you think would be of most interest to you? Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. meashford Posted October 21, 2015 Author Report Posted October 21, 2015 Thank you so much for your reply. Yes I am aware that it is a busy time. We really want to see New York with all the Christmas decorations, and our flights are already booked. I think the locations that you suggested near ESB and MSG would work well. I am also interested in MTE and MTW as a second option. A Hilton brand would be nice, since I have diamond status with them but I am not seeing that they are at my price point. Thank you again.
thereuare Posted October 21, 2015 Report Posted October 21, 2015 I'm currently seeing a 4* in the MSG zone that appears to be the Wyndham New Yorker... or a 4* in the ESB zone which i think is the Carlton Hotel. Do you want to try to target either of these (both $250/nite), try bidding for any 4* hotel on PRICELINE (may or may not get one of the above), or look at 3.5 star properties in the MTE and/or MTW zones?
