Some 4* zones in NYC are asking more than midtown west, they can be used as free zones but beware of the consequence.   Hope this helps.

In terms of rebidding, if you can select a star rating in a zone, you can possibly win a hotel there. Prices doesn't matter - if hotels are more expensive or cheaper in a particular zone you can still absolutely win a hotel in that zone. For rebidding you are looking for zones that do not have that star rating. For more information: rebidding.

True, but if those area are more in demand (more $$) than the intended zone, it is more likely those hotels' offers are higher than your intended zone, so those zones are like 'free zones'

 

Now there are not enough real 4* free rebids in NYC.

We have often seen users surprised that they won a hotel in a zone at a price for far less then they thought possible.

I would only use 'pseudo re-bid zones' if short on time and i was actually willing to stay in the zone... the fact that prices are usually higher in a given zone doesn't make it a bonafide re-bid zone. It can be done, but there is certainly a higher degree of risk involved.
