junka Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 First post here, hope I get this right :)The wife and I are looking to take a little Valentine's Day trip to Vegas. Judging on our experience in the past, we want to stay right on the strip, at 4*+. Dates we've chosen are 2/13/2006 through 2/16/2006.Examples of hotels we 'like' (but are by no means limited to):Mandalay BayMGM GrandBellagioSo what's the best strategy to use overall here? My past experience is through Priceline, but I'd be happy to take suggestions on other bargan-hunting techniques.

junka Posted January 21, 2006 Author Report Posted January 21, 2006 We're fairly flexible, and a lot of it depends on what the accomodations are. That is to say, we're just as interested in value as in price. A 5* at $100 is just as exciting as a 4* at $60. Overall though, I'd say our budget is in the neighborhood of $130 a night. This isn't necessarily a hard limit, but it's a "would nice to be under" sort of limit. Thanks for the help!
thereuare Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Rates for these dates are low, so i think you can easily do better than your $130 limit. As an example, you can get the Aladdin for $72/nite.Not sure if this interests you or what more you're looking for. junka Posted January 21, 2006 Author Report Posted January 21, 2006 Well it's been a long while since I stayed in Vegas so I'm not sure what the various hotels have to offer. To give some idea of what we're after, the wife isn't much of a gambler, so the quality of accomodations is important... I'd like to send her to the spa, with it being Valentine's Day and all, but the Strip being what it is I know we'll be all over the place for other stuff like dining. What sort of bid are we looking for to get into a 5*?Also, it looks like the Aladdin is undergoing a remodel and what I read says it's been somewhat disruptive to those who are staying there. So, a negative on the Aladdin :)
thereuare Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I'd think a 5* would go for anywhere from $100-$150 for these dates.Did you want to try that route? If so, what is your maximum bid for a 5* hotel? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
