thereuare Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 Are you willing to pay more to have a guess as to the hotel beforehand OR is your goal the least expensive property and you'll try bidding on PRICELINE before taking one of the offers above? Is there something in particular that you're looking for in a hotel for this stay? What is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. florfloren Posted September 30, 2015 Author Report Posted September 30, 2015 Hi thereuare! I'm also trying the Price.line bidding but had no success in the last few days (I even tried to use the 7% off discount code but I believe there is a technical error in the website because it's deducting 1% instead of 7% of the subtotal when I preview the offer). I'm looking for a hotel near Times Square that could give me the choice of having a two bed room. I know that can't be guaranteed when booking through Price.line or Hot.wire, but I'm looking for a 4.5 star hotel because they may be more helpful with this special request than a 4 star. What do you think about this? My maximum budget is 280$ per night, but if I can get closer to 200$ per night, that would be ideal. Any suggestions? Thank you for your kind help!
thereuare Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 ... I'm looking for a 4.5 star hotel because they may be more helpful with this special request than a 4 star. In NYC I don't necessarily think you'll have better success getting a room with two beds at a 4.5* hotel vs. a 4* hotel... there are a lot of factors involved which are much more relevant then the star rating of the hotel: hotel occupancy levels, if the hotel charges more for rooms with two beds vs. one bed, what is available at the time of check-in, mood of the front desk clerk, etc, etc. If your goal is to land a hotel with two beds, i would first look at PRICELINE EXPRESS and see if any of the hotels that show a 'Bed Choice' option list a room configuration with two beds. If one 'bed' was a pullout sofabed, would this satisfy your need, or are you looking for two actual beds? What about two 'full' sized beds? One King? florfloren Posted September 30, 2015 Author Report Posted September 30, 2015 In PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals, there is a 4 star hotel in Times Square which I asume is the Hotel Mela. They have an option of a Deluxe Room at 182$ per night (I would chose that one because I know that they have Deluxe rooms with two double beds). Do you think that's a good deal? I don't know that hotel. There's also a 4.5 star hotel in Times Square with an option of two double beds room (I guess is the W Times Square), but that one is 310$ per night, which exceeds my budget. I also see a 4.5 star hotel in Midtown East which I guess is The Benjamin for 264$ per night for one Deluxe Studio with one king bed (maybe they can change it to two twin beds), and a 4 Star in the same area that is probably The Roosevelt with two full beds for 183$ per night. What do you think? Thanks again! Florencia
thereuare Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 They have an option of a Deluxe Room at 182$ per night (I would chose that one because I know that they have Deluxe rooms with two double beds). The Hotel Mela is a good hotel with an excellent location. However, the issue is that you're requiring a room with two beds, and this description doesn't say anything about there being two beds in the room, only that it is a 'Deluxe' room. While the Mela does have a deluxe room with two beds in it, they also offer a deluxe room with only a king bed... what if that is the deluxe room type that you are assigned? ...one Deluxe Studio with one king bed (maybe they can change it to two twin beds)...... and what if they can't? Of the hotels above The Benjamin is the nicest, followed by the Hotel Mela... i would try to avoid the Roosevelt given the price relative to the other options.
